Here is iconic Howie Meekers to Wingers of all time-He has played and seen most.1.Gordie Howe.2.Guy Lafleur.3.Bobby Hull.4.Mike Bossy.5.M.Richard.6.Jackson.7.Ted.Lindsay.8.Frank Mahovlich9.Dickie Moore. There is more to stats to game of Hockey you need to understand that-

If there's a list of the 9 best wingers ever and Jagr isn't on it, it holds zero weight in my opinion.

That and having Moore and Jackson in the top 10 list.

The others all have a case, as do 2 Russians and several other guys but really Jackson and Moore?

Interesting... See below.

If there's a list of the 9 best wingers ever and Jagr isn't on it, it holds zero weight in my opinion.

Probably made prior to Jagr reaching 30. Maybe he didn't feel comfortable ranking Makarov and Kharlamov due to lack of exposure ?

That and having Moore and Jackson in the top 10 list.

All things considered, Moore's presence isn't the most curious thing. Especially at 9th. Factor in Jagr being still "young", Kharlamov and Makarov (and AO) not having enough exposure and Meeker missing possibly part of Cook's career, and he has Moore in a range that makes sense.

Jackson and Moore were very high on THN's top 100 list, a well

What puzzles me is the absence of Conacher. If he saw Busher, then he saw Conacher. Jackson above Conacher is... Interesting, to say the least. And certainly contrary to canon.

For the record, the Habs did something of a best of the century in the mid-80. Red Fisher basically alluded that the choice at LW (Moore) could have gone either way, with Joliat being the other player (the ceremony where Joliat tripped on the ice...)

Well, he was born in 1923, so he would have been 13 years old when Conacher was last an All-Star and 14 when Jackson was last an All-Star, and it seems based on my reading that Jackson was an extremely flashy player.

Leave Howie alone!

I often used to see him at the grocery store and he is the sweetest old man, always flirting with the cashiers.

Lists are still trickling in, so I'm extending the list submission period for at least a few more days. Better than excluding anyone who is willing to participate.

Agree...keep em coming

One would think that the last couple of drips should have been dropped by now. I've seen the vidioes.

You cant just set a last date for submissions, but then just skip it. I dont like to have been forced to put my list in the last minute possible, just to see the date dropped just after.

Guys, give the admin team a break on this sort of thing. You'd be surprised at the amount of behind-the-scenes coordination on these projects, and it takes place in the context of people who have real life jobs and families to take care of.

It'll get done, and once Round 2 starts we'll have months of productive time to look forward to.

A lot of you are getting a message titled "list accepted conditionally." It's not a big deal, it means the screeners just have a few questions about your list. In most cases, it means your list is accepted regardless. However, the screeners are doing a good job of making sure that you didn't forget anyone. In most cases that does not mean they will mandate the inclusion of any specific player(s), but some are worth asking about, just to ensure you didn't outright forget them or weren't confused about what position they qualify as for these projects.

Just finished reading this whole thread and great discussion. One thing I noticed was when talk of the players of 90's/00's I hear names like Naslund and LeClair being mentioned as sure things in the top 60.

Where does the general consensus fall on where Tkachuk would rank? Outside top 60? Around LeClair? Just wondering how people think he stacks up with some of these guys.

Tkachuk made the list, but well behind Naslund and LeClair who are together in the 40's.

Naslund had the Hart finishes, the goal finishes, the VsX.

LeClair had the goal finishes, the AS nods and the consistency.

Tkachuk couldn't compete with either guy in any of the above categories.

Tkachuk doesn't have LeClair's ASTs, but maybe it's worth visiting whether that's really fair.

In any case, they're certainly a lot closer than the 5-2 gap in ASTs.

Especially since once you expand the lens, Tkachuk appears to have had the lengthier prime.

2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-6 in AST voting versus 1-1-2-2-2-3 for LeClair.

I had Leclair in the 40s, Tkachuk in the 50s and Naslund somewhere on the Moon.

I had Tkachuk at 67 and felt like I was maybe underrating him a little.

I mean, the guy was a 500-goal scorer and two-time 50-goal scorer who didn't really get started until post-1993. Perennially regarded as a top-5 winger from 1994 all the way through 2002. He has to be in the conversation for top-60, right?
