I remember him being someone with exceptionally few placements deviating from the group opinion in the goaltender/defense project, so I'm quite surprised this time.

meh. this barely deviates, to be honest.

LeClair and Olmstead listed as outside the top-60 is just a technicality, since they barely made our top-60 and barely missed mine.

Yakushev was just plain a mistake. I realized that not too long into the project. Krutov? I should have ranked him but in the end when it came to vote on him, I still wasn't ready to.

My Hull ranking tied with 2/3 of the project, so that name being listed is just a technicality. Cook being 5th isn't deviant when a number of people had him 6th.

Richard and Bossy? Tied with half the project. Conacher, tied with 3. Bucyk and Howe I tied for the 2nd highest ranking.

Hextall I was too high on but I fell into line in round 2.

Propp and Larmer I was 2nd highest on, but that doesn't really strike me as deviant since a number of voters had them within a few spots.

Not that I think being deviant or non-deviant is anything to be proud or ashamed of (it's just a detail, not a positive or a negative) but I think if one were to determine the overall deviation in the round 1 lists compared to the final list, mine would be in the running for least-deviant.

I'm not judging you or saying whether it's good or bad, just had the 4x NONE from the d man list in my mind when opening the thread.:handclap:

I did some quick manipulations on the master list, comparing each player's list to where the players actually ended up, then weighing it by the higher players on the list (so a rogue Ken Wharram 69th ranking doesn't have as much effect as putting Bill Cook 19th). Here are the lists, ranked in order of conformity - the lowest are the most deviant. Gaps deliberate.

I bet if you put the number of ATD-forum posts beside each name, it would come pretty close to being a descending order.

If the 2014 ATD draft order was submitted as its own list to the wingers project, where would it have fallen on the conformity chart?

The gap is where the ATD round 4 began. It seems like the real variance starts just after that point (after Bentley really), which makes sense when you consider that's about where the ATD becomes more about acquiring specific complementary players rather than the cornerstone, BPA types.

Just eyeballing it, most of the variance tends toward the HOH list favoring recent, early and European players over 70s/80s/90s stat-heads and guys with a specific fantasy role.

I just gave the ATD top-80 the same treatment, as though it was a top-80 list submitted in round 1. It was quite deviant, actually, placing between the 16th and 17th actual lists I posted above.
