Exactly the kind of "different list" that actually differs in a pretty interesting way.

What's the consensus about Tom Anderson actually? Winger that played a half a season at D and got wrongfully rewarded? Winger that played a season at D and got rightfully rewarded? Or winger that played sporadically at D during his career, got converted to D full time at some point (early or midway) during his Hart season?

macinnis over robinson? reasoning?

Pretty straightforward -- I overrated MacInnis. You can see from the Round 2 votes that the discussion caused me to move him back a bit. I remember in particular that overpass' special teams stats were an eye-opener.

Was Kasatonov an oversight or viewed as the 5th guy that was made to look better?

Oversight. I knew going into the project that I had a blind spot for non-NHL Euros. In Kasatonov's case it was even worse because I associate him with his unremarkable NHL career.

It's worth mentioning that my first top-80 list got (rightfully) rejected for lack of non-NHL diversity.

Interesting to see Ted Green ranked so high. How much weight did you put on his WHA career?

At the time I made my list, I was pretty high on Green. Here's a post I made in the preliminary thread:

Ted Green - Brought into Boston during their lean years to be an enforcer, he started his career as a defensive specialist and developed into one of the league's best scoring defensemen. During a 5-season span in the late 60's, he was the 3rd-highest scoring blueliner in the league behind Pilote and Stapleton. And he did that while also leading the league in PIM as Boston's tough guy. Green was good enough at both ends that he was used as a forward on the PK, essentially giving the Bruins a 3rd defenseman who could also threaten to score. Unfortunately his career is somewhat overlooked due to a) being remembered primarily for his stickfight with Wayne Maki b) getting completely overshadowed by young Bobby Orr like every other defenseman c) jumping ship to the WHA when it started up. He was one of the best defensemen in the WHA during its more promising years, captaining the Whalers to the league's first championship and leading the league in goals by a defenseman.

The WHA is a tough nut to crack. The way I see it, an "elite" performance in the WHA translates to a similar performance in the NHL. I think Green's performance there is sufficient to work to his advantage, particularly the leadership component.

In retrospect I shouldn't have ranked him quite so high, but I do wish he had come up for consideration.
He'd have made an interesting comparable with Stapleton and White. He's one of those guys who gets lost in the shuffle when we focus on awards and Cups.

There's just no room. Jim Neilson was better, and I couldn't even get him into my top-80, or close to it.
