You’re saying it’s hard to link them I’m calling BS

What the? Your comments are confusing.

No - I'm clearly not saying that it's hard to link them. It's not. I'm simply saying it's not as easy as calling 1-800-INSTAGRM and having them run a report for you. It takes time for these things to play out.

After they receive an official law enforcement inquiry or are subpoenad to provide that, I'm sure it would not take long.

Hoffman is apparently cooperating, I would think if you're innocent you hand over every screen in your house ASAP and tell them to ignore the porn sites

you have zero understanding of how privacy law and technology coexist
If the Hoffman's are cooperating, as they have stated, they have waived their rights for being investigated and having their technology searched. If they haven't and are not really cooperating then yes it's more difficult without access to the hardware

even with access Hoffman could have the phone sent to someone to have it wiped of certain material - these leave traces and must be checked for as well as cloud services and Apple's permission to check message logs beyond the phone's saved data (unless he woman never clears her text history)

Definitely if they've engaged a cleaner it's a lot harder, the regular user is not smart enough to delete all traces as some of my friends have unfortunately found out the hard way from their wives checking the deleted data on their phones

Society is so soft these days that yes, this will hurt his value. Whatever team trades for him will get backlash from the media. “Oh so you condone cyber bullying!?”

Personally, I don’t care what players do off of the ice. I think people are idiots that allow their kids to look up to sports players as role models.

If nothing else, we'll get a shining example of the hypocrisy NHL execs use

Every single "Good Hockey Man" has uttered something along the lines of "Its a team game. The room is what really matters" at some point in his career. Well, injecting Hoffman (if the allegations turn out correct) to your room is probably the worst thing I can imagine.

Its got nothing to do with being soft. Look a little deeper then that/

Nothing brings people together like really hating one guy. Mike "Lightning Rod" Hoffman is about to become the hottest trade asset on the market.

This has already been shown before. One example being the Heatley trade to San Jose given what reportedly happened in the Ottawa room then.

"Reportedly". I did say if the allegations turn out correct.

...and thats not to say I disagree. I absolutely expect someone will trade for him, regardless of the outcome.

I only used the term reportedly because I haven't seen anything confirm what happened in the Ottawa room when Heatley was moved.

let me put the following statement into context

Many people on this site believe I am bat shit crazy

I am a little older then most of the people on this board right now--been around the block so many times I now sell maps to those following the path I walked down

nearly every girl or ex-wife(I was told to get a hobby and I thought collecting ex-wives was a good one) has been as bat shit crazy as me and I knew it

Hoffman and his fiance have been together for awhile and I have a hard time believing that he did not know or have a clue what she was up to and I only date crazy chicks and I always knew what they were up to

If teams are interested in Voynov, not sure how there wouldn't be teams interested in Hoffman.

I've seen this a few posts in this thread. Who the heck, in this current climate, would ever take Voynov on their team? Maybe had there been no Weinstein, Lauer, or any of the other tens of guys, heck Chris Hardwick just today, since the whole Voynov thing but now, in this time in the United States? I would be shocked if he signed.

Back to Hoffman though.......

It will hurt his value, but I'm not sure that it will lower it that much. Let's not kid ourselves, NHL teams don't really care about this kind of stuff. There is a lot of interest in Slava Voynov after he threw his wife through a TV a couple years back, the NHL has a feigned concern about crap like this.

I think the main differences with Voynov and Hoffman are Voynov's situation was "personal" (as in it didn't affect any teammates), and we don't know how it will affect contract negotiations. I don't know if the situation has hurt other teams' interest in Hoffman as much as it hurt Ottawa's negotiating power (and therefore value in a trade). While it may be feigned concern, they will definitely play it up in negotiations (both with Hoffman and with Voynov) to get the best deal possible. How much it hurts his value is going to depend on how good Ottawa's GM is at negotiating trades and how bad the other GM is.

Well than I guess what I said was correct. If teams will accept players with histories of domestic violence, I'm sure they will accept players with girlfriends that sent out mean tweets.

And in no way am I saying the alleged messages sent by Ms. Caryck are acceptable.
Many organizations will choose money (potential financial dividends or contributions) and the potential talent a player has over 'actions' or controversies, don't ya think?

I dont think it ruins his value at all he produced last season during and while this was going on & he wasnt a media distraction

All this came out cause Karlssons wife accused her & got a peace bond

I personally believe Karlssons might have possibly concocted a story against the Hoffmans after the trade deadline passed that insured they'd get their trade in the summer
And the story comes out just before the draft

Which team would want the entourage that follows Hoffman now? Unless they can prove 110% that they've done nothing wrong he will be damaged goods.

What would the wives of the players at his new team think? Would they make her welcome? Will they have the Hoffmans around for a BBQ and drinks? Would they be seen with them in public, going to the movies or a concert? Nope.

His trade value will also be ridiculously low so some team is bound to take a chance but it should require careful consideration, but even if they're proven innocent the Sens are broken already

Hoffman is highly unlikely to stay with the Sens even proven innocent. The hockey wives/GFs in solidarity supported EK and literally abandoned Hoffman. They simply cannot stay on the team.

Trade value has to be ridiculously low. With a NMC (I suspect waiving), there is only 2 years remaining on his deal to UFA. He will be playing extremely hard to save his career, I would suspect a team would take a chance and lowball the Sens on accepting.
