I'm sure that Ward meets the criteria but sometimes exceptions have to be made I think. Winning the Conn Smythe Trophy should eliminate you as a prospect.

Isn't the whole purpose of ranking prospects trying to determine who will have the biggest impact in the NHL? Winning a Conn Smythe is a pretty big impact. Will all the guys ahead of him on the list accomplish something as signifcant?

Only other beef is that Semin is way too high.

A few games here and there...
(My) Common sense says players like Lehtonen and Ward aren't prospects anymore.
Nor are Getzlaf and Perry for the Ducks, they had their spots on the team before camp so I wouldn't call them prospects. But you can't go about making exceptions to the rules, that would be a big mess.

So of the teams with 3 prospects, here are the averages:

Caps (Semin-8, Backstrom-10, Fehr-48): 22
Kings (Tukonen-40, Kopitar-14, O'Sullivan-9): 21
Bruins (Rask-26, Toivonen-16, Kessel-15): 19
Ducks (Perry-30, Ryan-13, Getzlaugh-5): 16
Canes (Ladd-28, Ward-7, J. Johnson-4): 13

Congrats, Canes. Again.

Okay so then the rules should be changed in some way so that players who win the Conn Smythe (or have some other kind of significant NHL impact) are no longer eligble. Including a guy like Ward on this list defeats the whole purpose which is basically to project future success.

When you include a guy like Ward you're trying to compare past accomplishments of a guy like Ward against potential future accomplishments of everyone else. This is kind of akward since it will be very hard for any of the others on the list to top a Conn Smythe Trophy.

However, on the whole I'd just like to say that I think this is one of the better HF prospect lists that I've seen. Pretty solid from top to bottom.

Obviously there's a few debateable points but that's to be expected and part of the fun of it anyway.

Remind me again what Staal and Bourdon have done so far to be considered such better prospects, besides play in Canada of course?

Well, at the WJC, Bourdon was named defenseman of the tournament, Staal was named to the all-tournament team, and Brian Lee won the none of the above award.

A little dissapointed to see Jonathan Bernier nowhere on the list but I can't complain about having three other guys on there ;)

Good list. Can't please everyone...

Overall, its a good list. Im surprised that Getzlaf is that high though. I would have like to see Latendresse on the (no, not top 10 silly) best of the rest list... but anyway. Penner should have make it ( top 50 ) too.. anyway

Good list.

The list sucks when you omit guys like Zajac, Lee, Welch, etc and have guys like Ward on it.

This is actually the worst list I have seen in years at HF.

and Olesz with Florida, he has played in 59 games last season, I wouldn't consider that a prospect anymore.

Backstrom and Semin are too high.

Ward and Lehtonen shouldn't be on the list.

The list sucks this year.

Backstrom at 10? He was arguably the best forward in this year's draft? I say it's at least debatable.

Semin is going to wow people this year. Caps players have been comparing him to Ovechkin.

I have Semin in my fantasy league and I'm high on the kid, but he isn't top 10 material. Neither is Backstrom at this point. I still fail to see how Backstrom is rated ahead of Kessel, but all you can go on really is draft position. Kessel, to me, isn't top 10 yet until he proves himself. Backstrom is not top 10 right now.

Backstrom was drafted before Kessel. If anything Jordan Staal and Toews are low, IMO.

I just don't see Getzlaf's upside.

Whats with you dissing Getzlaf?? A guy who will turn out to be a 90 point forward, and center a line of Perry and probably Penner. Either you dont watch hockey or just jealous you had someone like that on your team.
