Who else remembers Hockey Stars? I loved this mag. Always a different and interesting format for each issue.

The playoff predictions were always a blast. Namely:

"The Stanley cup winning goalie will have 16 wins in the playoffs"

"Gary Thorne will say something stupid."

"You'll ask yourself 'Why was I worried about that game in february'?"

"Everday for two months you'll be counting down to the next game."

I remember it because it gave me my first opportunity to be published as a hockey writer. I am forever grateful to editor Dave Rosenbaum for taking a chance on me and for the endorsement of Kisha Ciabattari, a retired 600-level hockey professor I sorely miss in the press boxes between Boston and the Meadowlands.

Shame that the rise of the internet killed the mag off.

Same people briefly put out a successor called Rink magazine, but it apparently didn't last very long. I contributed to one or two issues.
