They would need to build a rink, much of Antarctica is desert like with no moisture. Thus, no ice to play on. Besides, good luck finding anyone who'd want to play outside in that bitter cold.

American McMurdo Station and the Russian Vostok Station would be an instant Antarctic classic.

So Vostok would be a really deadly place to play. It is the worlds coldest place with -89,2 degrees Celcius as record and also at high altitude (3488 meters above sea level) and bone dry (2,6 mm pr year) so people get nose bleeds just being there. -12 degrees Celcius is the warmest ever recorded there, but high summer is normally -32 degrees Celcius in average; winters being -65 to -68 in average)

McMurdo Station is close to sea-level and not even "really cold" (only -49,4 degrees Celcius as record) and has +9,4 degrees Celcius as the warmest recorded.

So if it would give seriously problems for the Americans to play the Russian at Vostok base.

There's a place in Antarctica that hasn't seen precipitation in two million years. Antarctica is actually the world's largest desert. It's fun to nerd out with science on a hockey board!
