Check Newton Minnow's YouTube channel. It's a goldmine of old footage (including from other NA sports) He just posted some extensive highlights of a 1945 Bruins Leafs game.

I just found my way over here from the Bobby Orr thread and would like to thank everyone who contributed to this collection of videos. This is some fantastic stuff.

Now excuse me while I go enjoy that miracle on ice, again. :)

It's back on youtube. USA-Finland 1980 Olympics, full game:

Added.

Thanks, I've added quite a few of those now (including the ones mentioned by Uncle Rotter and those in 67Leafs67's channel through 1973). More will follow.

Somebody reading this must have Game 7 of Toronto/Boston in 1959 which turned out to be the last Bruins playoff game in Boston Garden until 1968.

The footage exists as it was on You Tube and I had a VHS copy that sadly didn't hold up.

My late father is seen in the CBC video operating a camera for WNAC-TV in Boston who covered the game for CBC. The video has long interviews during a 40 minute injury delay to Boston goalie Harry Lumley.

Thanks for any help on getting this back online.

Nice piece. Start says Black Hawks capture world´s hockey title by beating Detroit.

If this is correct (and atleast it would seem to be) it would be Blackhawks first Stanley Cup. Charlie Gardiners last game... and so on. I love the handshakes at the end.

Also clip from Rangers Red Wings from 1933. Same source

Edit. actually these were on Uncle Rotter´s list on last page. Didn´t see them on the thread though...

Not a full game, but does anyone have Don Cherry #14? (covering the 2001-2002 season)

Can not locate my copy of the DVD, and I need it for a project I'm putting together (specifically, the section of the DVD covering the 1st round of the 2002 playoffs) (and more specifically than that, highlights from the Flyers-Senators & Canadiens-Bruins series)

What's on YouTube is missing the part which has highlights from the above series.

Classic USSR vs CSSR games

While we're at it, I'm still lobbying for these two classic USSR vs Czechoslovakia games to be added to the "Historic video footage..." collection:

1977 World Championship, final round, CSSR vs USSR 4-3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRNk28wrw2s
Czechoslovakia goes ahead 4-0, and then a great comeback by USSR, but the Czechs hang on. A much more exciting game than those blowout wins from the 1977 WHC that have already been added ages ago.

1978 World Championship, final round, CSSR vs USSR 1-3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buodkxyrKwI
I mean, unless that just-over-a-minute highlight video is somehow better :)
USSR vs Czechoslovakia games don't get any more classic than this. A must-win for the Soviets (and by two goals) in Prague; if not, they would have failed to win the world championship three times in a row - a disaster.

Plus here is another one from the 1978 WHC:

1978 World Championship, first round, USSR vs CSSR 4-6
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Nw9T3rnA5o

If/when you got the time, and there's no specific reason why they couldn't be added...

Coooooooooooool.

Here's another USSR vs CSSR classic I just discovered on YT:

1972 WHC, April 20th, CSSR vs USSR 3-2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK7JAJItFdg

The video is about 87 minutes long, and it also includes interviews with old Czech players (in a TV studio, like in that video on the 1978 WHC first round game), so I don't think it's quite the full game, but still a good chunk of it! (I can see that in the Historic video footage collection there are some short highlights of the game.)

The one thing that strikes me in the USSR vs CSSR games is that how chippy they are. Many of them are great games for sure, but often there's like penalty calls in almost every other shift, and it disturbs/spoils the flow a bit sometimes. Not that it is surprising, knowing the political side of it.

Having now watched that 1978 WHC first round game, I have to say that USSR's top unit (Kharlamov-Maltsev-Mikhailov-Tsygankov-Fetisov) play incredibly lousy! (Maltsev had taken over for the injured Petrov.) They get scored on, they make constantly bad plays, they are off-side unusually often, they overskate the puck, and one almost struggles to find good passes made by any of them. Geez. Especially Mikhailov is incredible poor by his standards, easily the worst game by him I've seen. Luckily for USSR, a different Mikhailov appeared in the 2nd game and the de facto final vs CSSR. Luckily too, Petrov was back at center by that time also. To be fair, the top unit with Maltsev played one good game in the tournament too; they scored 3 out of 4 Soviet goals in the first round game against Canada.

^^^ Thanks much Uncle Rotter.... and.... Good Grief. Quite the hammering the old EHL Erie Blades suffered at the hands of the Soviets. 9-Zip.... Long-time minor-pro Nick Polano behind the bench, Coaching Erie for several years before 1yr as Bowmans Asst in Buffalo then a 3yr stint with the Red Wings in the early 80's as HC, then Asst GM for some time, instrumental in bringing over some Euro's like Klima & others.
