Hey guys, i figured we could all use a little break from hockey talk. Recently I've been looking for some great locations on Long Island to check out. After talking with a local out in Cutchogue I came across this amazing gem which is in the middle of nowhere and has a hidden entrance way off the main road. Pics below. Anyone else have any really cool locations on long island? I'd love to check some of them out.

The unbelievable location:
There was a large deck on top of a cliff overlooking the long island sound and it was gorgeous

Baiting Hollow Winery.

I enjoy wine (perhaps too much) and I love going out east to enjoy. The trouble is that you have to get out east and then head west during the day, and you are fighting the Mall and Water park traffic, along with all the other traffic on 25 and Sound Ave.

If I only want to spend some time at one, I go to Baiting Hollow.

Its exit 71 North.. and you don't head into Riverhead at all. Has a great vibe, tons of space, outdoor party spot with live music on the weekends.. w/ space for chairs and picnic tables.. buy a bottle.. or two! and relax!!!

Long Island
I'm gonna be doing the Long Island greenbelt trail in couple weekends. 32 miles from hecksher state park up to sunken meadow state park.

I love going out to captree with my kayaks and going in the fire island inlet over there get some really good views there:

The Walking Dunes of Hither Hills used to be a cool spot years ago... I found the area interesting with some back roads and a very cool diner that appeared in the movie Masquerade somewhere in the area.

The last time I visited the dunes though they had suffered some serious damage from too many visitors. And you have to paint your legs/pants with insecticide as the tick population is of epic proportion. Every blade of grass in some sections along the trails had a little black tick hanging off.

If you like Mexican good there is a little place in Riverhead on 25 just before you get into Main Street in town place is called Funchos it's tiny and you can go right past it but if you find it you won't be disappointed. They have tables outside and sell bottle beer so it makes for a nice summer lunch.
