Safin probably has the most upside but I think realistically Berglund or Marino seem to be the most likely to play in the NHL. Marino is a real sleeper. 15 points and +20 playing second fiddle behind Adam Fox is nothing to be sneezed at. Won a USHL championship the year before too. Rasanen is in the mix too but I question whether he has enough offense in him to be a full-time NHLer.

This is why I want with Rattie again, probably the only sure bet to see some NHL time, more then likely this year

Scraping the bottom

Skinner, Maksimov, Lagesson, Rasanen, Safin, Berglund, Rattie, Marino

All are super intriguing prospects with upside. So I couldnt agree 14 is where bottom of the barrel is. Maybe only 1 ever makes NHL but these guys have upside

Cairns, Chase, Vesel, Yakimov, McPhee id agee. Limited to no upside

it's nice to see a fair amount of defensive depth in the top 13 ! notice it was all players picked/signed by Chia and his scouting staff?

I went with Berglund.

I think he's probably a little underrated because we don't know anything about him.

Seems to be toolsy and already a solid SHL defenseman at 20 years old.

Rasanen has been intriguing though, he'll have a good world jr's tourney I believe.

He is super intriguing. Nothing flashy, but a great toolset.

I watched him a couple times late in the year, he plays a very NA style.

My hope is that he continues to grow, playing against men then comes over in a year or two.

Also he is a right shot which is always a bonus.

I still don't get how Dylan Wells is a higher touted prospect than Nick Ellis. Ellis has posted great numbers in his last season in the NCAA and followed that up with a great season in the AHL.

Pedigree, I guess? Weird pedigree considering draft spot.

I agree. I guess Ellis is a bit older as well maybe? But from my perspective, Ellis has shown he's much more likely/capable of playing at the NHL level. We've seen many junior goalies who fizzle out once they move on to the pro level.

What was Nick Ellis at age 19? (4 friggin long years ago)

Thats like wondering why Benson is ranked ahead of Khaira.

Completely agree I posed the same question in poll 3 or 4 I think, goalies are such a crapshoot there's no way Wells 1 CHL season should outweigh Ellis' solid AHL season. One guy said he saw both play and liked Wells more which has Merit, either way both are longshots to be regular NHLers

not sure exactly what makes Safin a better prospect than Maksimov or LaLeggia but i'll go with it and vote for him too and it looks like he's gonna be next !

Laleggia is an interesting one.

He put up some really solid numbers in his first season as a full-time winger. It will be interesting to see how much of that was because of him playing with Anton "AHL Connor McDavid" Lander though.

and LaLeggia could be on the cusp of actually making the Oilers this training camp as a winger....we shall see but he's the guy who really should be next up on the list and not the latest new shiny toy pick.

Not an Oilers prospect anymore.

From the NHL CBA

Notwithstanding any provision of Sections 8.6(a) or (b) to the contrary, if
a Player drafted at age 20 or older is drafted from a club outside North
America, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive right of negotiation
for his services through and including the second June 1 following his
selection in the Entry Draft. The Club need not make a Bona Fide Offer to
such Player to retain such rights.

You are correct. I forgot he was drafted at 20. Wish they would have given him a contract.

Same. He was putting up ridiculous numbers, but I think brining in Starrett sealed his fate.

Anyways, with or without Svoboda it's hard not to be happy with our current depth in goal. From the NHL to Junior, Chia's done an incredible job.
