:bruins select, from the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, Arnaud Durandeau!! (QMJHL)

This late in the draft and still getting scooped kinda. I had Zach Lauzon and Marian Studenic in contention for this pick, but I'm glad the decision was made for me and I could steal from the Habs backyard and draft this offensive minded LW with a motor, good shot and release, and an agitator.

1 (18th) - Lias Andersson, C, HV71 (SHL)
2 (53rd) - Michael DiPietro, G, Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
4 (111th) - Kirill Maksimov, RW, Niagara IceDogs (OHL)

7 (195th) - Martin Bodak, RD, Tappara (Liiga)

With their final pick in the draft, the Edmonton Oilers would like to thank Soli for putting this together for another year.

The Oilers are pleased to select Ben Mirageas from the Chicago Steel of the USHL. We feel this is excellent value for a 7th round pick and couldn't pass him up - also suspect many forgot about him since he was drafted, then un-drafted

Next GM up!

Tiny but very fast and skilled, while being more of a passer than finisher. One of the top rookies in the Liiga this season, finishing with 26 pts in 48 games.

2016-17 highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TUBmSwds1A

Overall I am satisfied with my draft as I feel I addressed a wide range of areas, including goaltening depth, speed/skill on the wings and a mix of high risk/reward players (Liljegren) with low risk (Mattheos) selections. Big thanks again to Soli for hosting and all of you for keeping it rolling so well. Cheers all!

Next GM being notified.

With the 210th overall pick the Minnesota Wild are proud to select...

...from Chicago Steel, USHL, forward Brannon McManus.

BRANNON-MCMANUS-1-628x332.jpg

Like him as a late-round pick. Seems to have a good combination of skills. Right-hand shot, projects as a middle-six forward after a couple of years in college. Headed to University of Minnesota, which is a bonus for the Wild here.

This concludes the draft for me. Thanks Soli for hosting yet another great mock!

Happy with how it turned out for me, especially considering I didn't have a 1st or 2nd rounder with Minnesota. Still got a lot of players with pretty great upside IMO. Have to think there's at least two decent NHLers in this bunch:

#86 Markus Phillips, LD, Owen Sound Attack, OHL
#97 Denis Smirnov, LW, Penn State University, NCAA
#117 Pavel Koltygin, C, Drummondville Voltigeurs, QMJHL
#148 Linus Nyman, LW, Kingston Frontenacs, OHL
#179 Calle Själin, LD, Östersunds IK, Division 1 SWE
#210 Brannon McManus, RW, Chicago Steel, USHL

That's a wrap! 3 years in a row... we're awesome at this!

Kudos to everyone who participated. We're consistently one of the better mock drafts on HF and that's a testament to the group we got. Look forward to seeing everyone again for the 2018 HFOil Mock Draft!
