After fighting their way through two tough series only to fall to the eentusl (repest) Cup champs in six, the Columbus Blue Jackets today announced what is expected to be their last roster update prior to the draft and free agency.

Veterans Dave Bolland and Devan Dubyk accepted their qualifying offers and will return to the Eastern Conference finalist Blue Jackets for one more year. Also accepting one-year extensions were rookies Niklas Svedberg, Spencer Abbott and Terry Broadhurst.

Notables who will go to market include Ilya Bryzgalov and Kimmo Timonen.

Young star Torey Krug is forcing his way onto the roster, making the decision not to re-up Timonen for what is likely to be his final HFNHL season easier. With an extension due to cost over $6 million, the Jackets need the cap flexibility to address their starting options in net. Bryzgalov was decent in helpin the Jackets make it to the Conference Finals, but it's clear that for the team to advance to their ultimate goal they need a better solution between the pipes.

Columbus will look to address that situation this summer. They currently hold picks in each of the second and third rounds of the draft, and three picks in the fourth. All are thought to be on the table, along with most prospects and roster players, in the search for a starting netminder.
