Surprised to not see a thread on it.

Just downloaded and started playing it last night, I really like it a lot. The maps are similar to typical league maps but there's objectives that change by which map you are on that are super important. No gear to buy like league, and you start with all 3 of your QWE and get your R at lvl 10. All the champs have multiple R ultimates that you can change depending on what you want. Also as you level you get to modify your qwer or trait to your liking every game. For example you can get a modifier that resets your CDs after a kill or a stun lasts a second longer as two options but you only get to choose one. These are selected as you level up so your champ can play completely different from game to game. You level the individual champions as well so if you are just trying a new champ your selection of traits to level are limited until you get a feel for them, usually after 2-3 games. XP is team-based rather then individual, so a kill, minion kills, tower kills, it all levels your team up rather then you as an individual, although you can see individual stats by pressing tab or looking at the end of the game. Games are typically shorter, 20-30 minutes seems pretty average.

So discuss...To start outside of the description, I really dig Sylvanos, Nova (Both ranged assassins) and Uther (Full out support) so far although I haven't played or own a ton of champs yet

Really fun game...like picking it up and playing a game for 20-30 minutes and being done with it.

I usually play Valla or Sgt. Hammer (but man she is so hard to play...still haven't really figured it out lol).

I HATE playing against Nova lol. Usually someone is playing Nova in every game I play.

Is HoS free to play? I heard that Blizzard is charging for it, and well, that wouldn't surprise me at all. Blizzard loves money so, so, so, so, much.

They aren't charging anything to play HotS. It's Free-To-Play, just like all the other MOBA's that exist.

I love Sgt. Hammer <3
Go Siege mode and blast the heck out of their defenses and the turrets can't even touch you. A lot of times if they charge at me while I'm in siege I'll just Z away so they can't do much to me. Her ult is pretty OP later in the game, at least to me. If you get the big rocket that is. It will keep going through the same direction that you fired it in every 5 seconds over and over until you use the ult again.

Right now I'm having fun playing Zagara.

I kinda like it but don't want to start playing another MOBA. Already knee deep in LoL and love it. Nothing particularly wrong with HotS but I go with what I'm already really into and all my friends already play LoL.

I think the biggest thing aside from the length of games for me is that stuff gets changed up with the different objectives on the maps and what not. It gives more to think about and do. Different areas to control on different maps and stuff. I really enjoy it vs what League gives you.

I won't lie at first the whole XP sharing thing didn't sit well with me but then once I started to play it didn't really bother me at all.

Was kinda like that as well, but it works both ways. 1 guy can't necessarily carry a team but 1 kind can't single-handedly ruin a team either

Yep, very true.
Plus objectives are HUGE. More so in HotS than in any other MOBA that I've ever played.

Sucks not having a computer!! I would love to get into these kinda games.

Ever hear of the "angry nerd" stereotype? The kind of person who feels he has no place in the real world so he lives vicariously through virtual ones? Since the virtual world is more important than the real one to him, he takes gaming REALLY seriously? So you couple the pent up anger from being a social outcast and mix it with the virtual world being of such high importance because of the outcast stuff, and you have the most hateful intolerable person imaginable? Just a poisonous nerd who is just one of the most unlikable human beings on the planet?

Yeah, MOBAs are absolutely overflowing with those kinds of people. Like, bubbling over the top and spilling all over your table and floor. On top of that, Im not a fan of the gameplay.

But those people, man. Those people. No thanks.

That doesn't sound very appealing lol.

I've run into a ton of people like that in LoL. I just do my part to give detailed reports when they do it and encourage the other peeps in the game to do the same. Most of the time the peeps actually agree and say they're reporting them.

Apparently, Riot is trying to do more to stop those cancerous *******s. These are the type of people who have no tolerance for new people and outright trash you because you bought an item they feel isn't good, etc and just bash you the entire game. They definitely exist in LoL and are huge *******s.

I don't mind when people give me advice in a game, but there's a way to go about doing it and these people are simply *******s who lack any tact in the way they go about it. I've learned a lot since being a noob and it was due to friends and random people who are the polar opposite of those people.

People are a lot more receptive to criticism when you aren't a dick about it. These people I'm referring to are simply total ****** bags. I can't even deny their existence because they certainly do exist, it makes the game far less accessible to newer people which is a shame. My advice, if you play LoL try and play as much as you can with IRL friends.

That having been said, the game is awesome and it gets better. You seem to get less of those trolls over time. I think maybe they do get warned by Riot or possibly the match making puts *******s with other *******s etc. It's hard to say but I haven't seen one of those **** heads in a long time now. Maybe I'm jinxing it though because they definitely are out there and sometimes you'll get none for a few weeks, other times you'll get multiple in the same week.

I find that very hard to believe. MOBAs are the breeding grounds for those kinds of people. I played hots before, and it was real bad. Not league of legends bad, but bad.

I've only had one instance where someone was being toxic in a match and that's it. Other than that one person, everyone has actually been cooperative in all the matches I have played. Granted I'm not level 40, but I've played a good bit of matches.

I've had pretty much the same experience. It's a lot less toxic of an environment and I think that has something to do with not being able to talk to the other team. You don't get the passive aggressive ****** bag whining at the other team that his guy stinks. It also probably has something to do with the game length and that it pretty much starts right away, theres no real down time at the start of the game like waiting for the lanes to set up and people to get to lvl 3 to have all their skills. The game starts and the GAME STARTS, you gotta be on your toes early. But I as well am not very high leveled either so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Been playing fairly regularly since alpha. :) I like it more than I liked LoL. Pinging is a good system that I'm still learning if only because I'm usually too focused on things and forget to actually ping.

Gonna start getting into hero league.

My mains are..

Assassin: Raynor/Nova
Support: Rehgar/Brightwing
Specialist: Sgt. Hammer/Sylvanas
Warrior: Tyrael/Muradin

Favorite map is Dragonshire forever. :D Some of the most fun tug of wars have happened on that map.

If you ever get frustrated dealing with the stealth heroes (zeratul/nova), if you look closely you can actually see them moving around because they create distortion so they're not completely invisible. You can break their stealth with any aoe or line attack.

Brightwing is best faerie dragon.
