I did see a play in the Panthers game where he jammed his skate into the post and looked to flex his left knee a bit afterwards. Could be precautionary and just tweaked his knee. But then we have this...

Sounds like a mixture of a possible minor injury plus a good time to rest and recover a bit.

Hopefully the rest will help him during the playoffs. Raanta's been really good. If he can carry the mail for the next 2-3 weeks he might be the guy Las Vegas takes. He's never really had an extended period of games as a starter. So there's that too.

No stress. They have a massive cushion above the second wildcard spot and it sounds like Hank will be back in time to get some reps in before the playoffs start.

That will likely leave him with only a few games to get back into a groove, which isn't ideal.

With how inconsistent he's been this season this was a worst case scenario IMO. Don't know which Hank we'll get for the playoffs, and Olympus Hank is the only chance the Rangers have this year.

I'll just assume it's at least three weeks with the way the Rangers injury timelines have gone this season.

Horrible news.

He has been playing like vintage Lundqvist for a month and a half, finally is dialed in, and has to miss 2-3 weeks, with little playtime before playoffs?

Hopefully he is still on point when he comes back. He has probably been their biggest asset the last 6-8 weeks.

And does anyone else notice, when Lundqvist has the potential to win 40 games, he is getting injured? He seems to be more injury prone in recent years.

This Is unfortunate but he can rest up, and be ready for the playoffs, Rangers are sitting in a comfortable spot now in the first WC spot, and Raanta has played very well this season. So it's bad news but not devastating, imo. Just have to hope Lundqvist is 100 percent when he returns and continues his resurgence.

Some stress.

Lundqvist looked like he was really getting his legs under him the last 2 months or so. He was squaring up, he was looking like his vintage self. There is some worry about regaining that form, at 35 years old, right before the playoffs.

Good time for a test run to see how Raanta performs under consistent starts down the stretch against good teams.

This news means absolutely nothing in regards to that.

Push that agenda though.

Seems pretty relative to me. The best player on our team is hurt going into the playoffs (hopefully he will be ready by then) but even so, we know it usually takes Hank time to get back to form. This clearly is somewhat of a hindrance on the team's chances and paying a huge price for a rental when our chances are lessened is clearly not idea.

idk I was thinking the same thing. I'm glad we didn't go crazy at the deadline and this just further reinforces it. Imagine we gave up Buch or Skjei and a 1st and Lundqvist goes down like this.

He will get to rest a bit while recovering and will be on fire in the play offs. This injury will bring us the Cup
