This kid is really flying under the radar.

Yep. He basically lost his spot in Jokerit juniors as he was considered too small at the age of 15. Moved to rival HIFK juniors and gained enormous amount of height. This caused back problems and he missed almost completely season 14-15. Gaining ridiculous amount of height makes you lose your coordination for a while and when we add the back problems, it's natural that he wasn't seen in junior national teams.

Also the Finnish U20 league doesn't get that much attention as the most talented juniors are already playing in Finnish elite league with men. There are few gems though and usually these guys are heading to Northern America leagues that don't allow players with pro background.

Glad to see him doing well.

When we picked I was like "who?". But the scouts clearly look like they knew what they were doing.

Great read, thanks for the share. Kid progressing great so far at Denver, hopefully he makes the jump to pros look just as easy.

Im really hoping this kid becomes a steal for us. We really need one, it seems like all other teams have that one guy who everyone is like wtf who is this guy who becomes a stud. We need one.

The release on his shot after that toe drag is MaxPac-like. The puck is already in the back of the net when the goalie reacts to the shot.

Man he has great accuracy putting the biscuit on that top shelf over the goalie's shoulder. If he has that kind of accuracy at the pro level I think he may be the steal of the draft.

^There's talk that if Montgomery left Denver that many of the players will turn pro. Could happen as Henrik would likely be sent to Springfield to adjust to the pro level of play which would be a real shock to his system. The AHL is as physical if not more so than the NHL. He really needs to spend another year in the NCAA to bulk up IMO even if it means Denver will not have Montgomery.

I'm not a fan of NCAA coaches being hired directly as a HC without spending some time as an assistant. I would guess the Cats will be his only viable opportunity as an NHL HC this year but it is said he is torn between the stability of Denver and the opportunity to coach at the NHL level. If the Cats offer him the job he should jump with both feet as he will need another NCAA championship to get future offers around the league. :)
