Two great Swedish defensemen who are still active and may add something to their legacies. So consider peak/prime as something up to this season only.

Karlsson:
Norris: 1-1-2-2-7
Hart: 5-8-9-9
RS: 869GP-689P, -75
PO: 67GP-53P, +4

Hedman:
Norris: 1-3-3-3-3-3-7-9
RS: 915GP-613P, +148
PO: 155GP-107P, +21
Conn Smythe

EK was toying with us and most of the league this year. Likely to win his 3rd Norris or finish 2nd.

Consider Hedman did that on a modern day dynasty team. EK did that on bottom feeder/average team.

Karlsson on that 2017 playoff run was one of the best players I’ve ever seen. No one has carried such a shitty team like that since Hasek. He was awesome.

Peak EK. Prime VH.

Going to need to wait more than 20 games to declare EK a Norris finalist.

Let's see how he ends the year. Unlikely to be ppg and continue this level of production

Karlsson peak, Hedman prime. Karlsson is simply a gamebreaking talent in the offensive zone who carried some mediocre Sens teams, while Hedman is the versatile d-man who was great in all zones, especially the neutral zone, and could adjust to any type of game being played. Hedman looked to be pulling away career wise, but Karlsson's revival this season should make things interesting.

I think peak is clearly Karlsson, prime is closer but I still voted for him but wouldn't argue with someone who prefer Hedman in that regard.

That’s nice as yes early for predictions, what about the poll though.

Peak is debatable, probably Karlsson. But prime is clearly Hedman. He has more Norris nominations (6x) than Karlsson has top 10 finishes (5x).

EK65. Sad he got that injury and everyone just rags on him. Glad he's shutting a lot of those people up again. He was unbelievable in Ottawa. Even as a Ducks fan I'm happy for him playing well for the Sharks.

Hedman for both. Defense is part of being a defenseman, so defensive play is part of the peak.

Karlsson’s peak is nearly untouchable. Hedman’s consistent supremacy is getting up there as well.

EK peak, VH prime.

Except EK has a disrupted peak, at least to me where I look in his best 3 consecutive seasons and compared to Hedman, Hedman has the better "pure 3 year stretch with regular season success and being a playoff stud as well.

Went Hedman first in both for that 3 year consecutive peak and better 7 year stretch for prime.
