During the past week of cold temperatures, the nearby pond froze over, something that's never happened since I've been here. A group of us went down and did a bit of stickpuck, just skating, passing, shooting around. Maybe not to impressive for some of you up in the colder regions but kind of a skating on the Thames moment for somewhere like North Carolina.

One of my teammates went and did that with his kids.

I don't know why several of us didn't get together to do it. Pond hockey is on my bucket list and I probably missed the only chance I'll ever have to do it at home.

I'd be afraid of tearing up my skates. Maybe that's irrational but it just seems like you'd be skating all over uneven crap like sticks and leaves and stuff.
