So no Fedotenko, Ponikarovsky, Kasyanchuk or Razin on the Ukrainian entry to the WC D1A. Disappointing considering this team needs these guys in order to have any chance to advance to the top level of competition. I'm very glad to see Gaiduchenko and Padakin there though. Nice to see some young talent dedicated to playing for the NT now.

really? that's so lame, especially for Fedotenko being the captain of Donbass and all (and Razin being on the team, too)

I would assume that they're injured, otherwise they should both be there.

The sad part is that if they advance to the Elite-tier next season we'll see Poni, Feds, Kasyanchuk and Razin all come out of the woodwork to represent Ukraine.

sad? that'd be a dream come true

wont be this year though, and now we'll have to wonder if they could have pulled it off if they had a proper roster

according to the separatist leader, akhmetov is financing the rebels. the POR has said this is bull and that akhmetov is against them. now this new report is saying akhmetov has lost control. who knows at the moment now...

guess this means hc donbass wont exist next year. if part of ukraine, akhmetov will be an enemy of the state (or the republic) and his assets nationalized. if he successfully separates, donetsk will be a transnistria-like hellhole where no team could really operate. only way the team survives is if russia annexes donetsk and ukraine gives it up, and he plays ball.

the team's in trouble..

Sheriff Tiraspol have actually been the most successful club in Moldova recently. Of course they were founded several years after the conflict started and there are many differences between the two situations, but it does sort of disagree with the idea that no team could operate in Transdnistria.

Transnistria actually is doing a notch better than Moldova overall...

[Mod] the team statement says it was done by Donetsk Republic gunmen and that they looted the arena (taking plasma tvs, equipment, company car, etc.) before setting it on fire

That really is the least of their problems...the arena could be functional, but would the region be suitable to host sporting events?

Maybe worst case scenario the team is moved to Kiev temporarily or even Kharkiv. The stadiums there are not great, especially in Kharkiv, but it's a temporary solution.

KHL season cancelled for them but they'll be back the year after with all contracts frozen in time so they dont have to rebuild

next year they will play in the Ukrainian Championship, no word on what city though
