Seemed like a marginal call there on Entwistle. 3rd penalty already for the Dogs. Got to stay out of the box.

Thomas has picked up right where he left off versus SSM, excellent 1st period by him thus far.

Stay out of the box Lot of empty seats.

You would think it would be a sellout. Host team, opening night. Guess there are better things to do in Regina on a Friday night.

Good move to give them the Mem Cup.

Still think Hamilton should have got it even though there are some issues with the building. Would of had atleast 8k minimum for the Hamilton games and probably 6-7k for the other ones. I would have bought a package, no doubt.

Just turned on the game. Where are the fans?? I can't believe the number of empty seats. Did they lose interest because of the 6 week layoff?

Saigeon back and Fulcher with a couple big saves early in the 3rd.

Regina getting their game legs back. They’ve settled in and are looking good now.

22-4 shots in favour of the Bulldogs over Swift Current in the first period but only up 1-0. The Broncos looked gassed, but they're still in it due to their goaltender Skinner.

Nightmare scenario: Bulldogs outplay all three teams, but lose all three games....

The Broncos look like a team parachuted in from the 70's. Big, slow and little skill.

Hamilton simply have to win this game. The Broncos have 1 line.

One line plus a goalie that steals games!

Hamilton needs to get more traffic in front of him. Hopefully can get a few more soon and make this a little more comfortable lol

If the Dogs can win tomorrow versus Acadia, they may be in the Final depending on the Regina/SC result.

What a game by Skinner. Just amazing.

Dogs just kept coming and are deserving of the win.

Bulldogs back in Cup
By: Teri Pecoskie May 21, 2018

Regina—The Hamilton Bulldogs have their first win at the Memorial Cup.
Marian Studenic scored with 2:01 left in the third period to lift the team over the WHL champion Swift Current Broncos 2-1 Monday.
Mackenzie Entwistle had the other Bulldogs marker early in the first, Cory Sissons notched the lone Broncos goal on the power play and Swift Current netminder Stuart Skinner was remarkable with 54 saves in the loss.
In the wake of the game, Studenic admitted it was frustrating to spend so much time in the offensive zone without finding the back of the net. His tally, set up by Ben Gleason and scored from the goal line, was Hamilton’s 18th of the period and 55th of the game.
“That was the best goalie performance I ever saw,” he said. “He was good today, but I thought we deserved it for the pace of play.”
The newly assembled trio of Nick Caamano, Robert Thomas and Entwistle, along with blueliners Justin Lemcke and Riley Stillman, were tasked with shutting down Glenn Gawdin and Aleksi Heponiemi, who combined for a ridiculous 243 points this campaign. And they were perfect, rendering the duo pointless and holding it to a combined four shots.
The Broncos put just 22 pucks on net altogether, including 11 in the middle frame.
Gruden praised Entwistle and Caamano in the wake of the game, saying they were outstanding against Gawdin and Heponiemi. In particular, he added, Entwistle’s game has evolved in the playoffs — “like big, power, strong and I knew we needed that against their top line.”
Studenic said the Bulldogs have to go into it with the same game plan. That is, keep it simple, win 50/50 battles and get traffic in front of the net. The Titan are the only that club with a perfect 2-0 record in the competition so far and, as far as head coach John Gruden is concerned, probably Hamilton’s biggest challenge.
“This is going to be a tough game for us tomorrow,” he said.
Gruden said he plans to stick with the same combinations for the matchup with the Titan. He and his coaching staff overhauled their lineup after the team’s loss to the Pats to boost speed and physicality.

That game was shades of Canada vs Lativa a couple years back (when great men's Olympic hockey was still a thing). Skinner deserves a medal for that performance.

Dogs are the Only team that can challenge Acadia in terms of Speed and Skill.
The 2 WHL teams are not in the same league as the above teams.

I still think Bulldogs and hounds are the 2 best teams in Canada, chl made a mistake by not putting the memorial cup in Hamilton with all the empty seats in Regina.

Nice snipe by Thomas. Dogs up 3-2 early 3rd.

Not sure how the math works out if they win tonight but they’re all but guaranteed a semi final spot and depending on tomorrow’s result, potentially a direct route to the final.

Regardless I’ll be pulling for Swift Current tomorrow.

Marginal penalty call on Entwistle.

Acadia keeping their goalie in net so they don’t give up an EN goal which could effect goal difference/tie breakers for a birth in the final. Interesting.
