The way goalies are available in this day and age it makes little sense to draft one round 1.

Unless that guy is a sure thing rd number 2 will be his fate.

In fact unlike any other position you don't even have to draft a goalie at all.

Guys like Bernier, Bishop, BOB, Halak, Schneider, Ramo and Luongo were acquired for pennies on the dollar. Schneider and Varlomov being the exception.
In addition guys like Anton K., Talbot, Svedberg, Fasth, were signed as free agents.
Then you look at the great goalies drafted after the third round.
Its just wow.

Eventually Detroit has to decide Mrazek or Howard.

Bishop or the Russian.

Reimer or Bernier.
And the cycle repeats itself.

Halak is a great fit for this team.

Its also a perfect situation for him and his family and he appreciates us.

Class act.

I hope all ISLES fans stand up and applaud him for bringing some stability even if its just for a few years or maybe until the Isles face the same Dilemma.

One can only dream.
