Niklas Hagman has signed a new 3 year deal with the Nashville Predators. Hagman has toiled on the Predators 4th line for most of the time since being acquired from the Ottawa Senators for Owen Nolan, but should be counted on getting a bigger role next season.

"We definitly like what Niklas brings to the table and are happy to have him locked up. He is the speedy and gritty type of player we like to have in our organization, so it was a sure thing that we tried to extend his stay here." GM Kapfenberger said.

In other news, the Predators have dealt veteran forward Martin Gelinas and a 5th round selection in 2007 to Carolina for Scott Mellanby, Francis Bouillon and a 2nd round pick in 2008. Bouillon then was shipped to Tampa Bay for a 3rd round pick in 2009.

The Predators are rumored to make more deals heading into the trade deadline as the club apparently is in tough negotiations with free agents Chad Kilger and Eric Belanger about contract extensions
