KEY PLAYERS
Gallagher/Marleau
Brendan Gallagher remains a heart-and-soul player for the Canadiens, always working hard and getting to the net. He leads the club with 26 goals and 13 power-play points. Leaf Patrick Marleau’s 23 goals kind of creeped up on everyone. At 38, he remain a force.
NEED TO KNOW
Montreal snapped a five-game losing skid with a win over Dallas on Tuesday, but fell to Pittsburgh Thursday. . . . The Canadiens are the lowest scoring team in the Eastern Conference, with 182 goals in 71 games … Andrew Shaw did not travel with the Habs and underwent concussion protocol after being knocked out on the ice against Dallas … Star goalie Carey Price did make the trip. There’s no set timeline for his return from a concussion suffered Feb. 20, but Price took part in full practice this week and is aiming to play again this season. Montreal is 4-4-4 without him … Winger Mike McCarron was called up from the AHL’s Laval Rocket … Second-year winger Artturi Lehkonen has four goals in his last four games.

THE BIG MATCHUP
C Tomas Plekanec vs C Jonathan Drouin

Though they might not see a lot of each other head-to-head, this underlines the change in direction of the Canadiens with Plekanec moving on and the Habs trying to build around a new group in coming years. Expect Plekanec to be a bit disoriented when he sees that CH crest again, while this should be a game the patchwork Montreal lineup can get jacked up about being in.
FIVE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. FIRST AND GOALS
Both teams have played a combined three recent games in which they scored the opening two goals. But where the Leafs emerged the winners after comeback bids by Dallas and Buffalo, the Habs couldn’t hold on against the powerful Penguins in a 5-3 loss on Thursday.
2. WHO GOES WHERE?
Toronto might have a couple of injured players get back in, namely Auston Matthews and Frederik Andersen, while there is no pressure for Montreal’s lengthy injury list to speed up their return.
3. THIRTY SOMETHING
Leaf flanker James van Riemsdyk is on a roll, five goals and an assist in the past two games, a career-high 31 goals and an outside shot at 35 or 40. Credit centre Tyler Bozak with getting the puck to him, at even strength and power play.
4. HOME ZONE
The Leafs are at 11 straight home wins, a franchise best. The advantage of last line change on top of a more established lineup should help, too, especially without Carey Price to shut the door for the visitors.
5. WORK OF ARTTURI
Artturi Lehkonen posted his ninth goal of the season against the Pens, giving the Finn four goals in the past four games. He’s a Frolunda (Sweden) club teammate of Toronto call-up Andreas Johnsson.

This should be an easy W.

Let’s extend that home winning streak and get closer to Boston. Their schedule to end the season is brutal, they pretty much play playoff teams or teams fighting for playoff spots till the end of the season.

If we win and they lose tonight we are theee points behind with them having 2 GIH. A lot still has to go in our favour but we can definitely keep it interesting till the very end.

Most likely won't get to watch this tonight, so hopefully the Leafs make it an easy one to miss by having a really, really boring 10-0 win.

No excuses - Crush them.

Be interesting to see what kind of game Plekanec brings tonight against his former team.. So far he has been invisible and perhaps this game will motivate him.

Leafs should have an easy time tonight putting the screws to the Habs.

Anyone want to guess the chances of AM34 suiting up tonight?

50/50?

0/100

Team doing okay without him. Let him rest up as much as needed.

Nothing I would love more than a trouncing of the putrid Habs. Let's wreck'em like there's no tomorrow.
