Can we all at least agree on the fact that drouin has a crazy shot? Him and Galchenyuk have ridiculous releases given time.

A large percentage of this league can shoot at a decent rate. Question is can they can they help create or create themselves scoring opportunities which Drouin has struggled his whole career in the NHL so far.

I don't think Drouin has "struggled his whole career in the NHL".

Something something Colorado was the worst team in the league last year and Drouin can easily become the best player in the league just like Mackinnon
Time to figure out the whereabouts of Rodchenkov. Habs sure could use his expertise.

This is particularly disturbing for a team so heavily focused on defence led by a defensive-minded coach.

The Habs have one of the worst PK stats in away games, since 1977, when these stats have begun to be recorded.

To be more accurate, they have posted the second-worst PK percentage in the history of these stats.

Just to correct you Runner77, it's the fifth-worst PK percentage. Kings had the worst followed by the Red Wings.

Wow, says something about AG. Thanks to Julien for putting him on the 4th line and limiting his minutes at the start of the season.

You can see how it's all paying off now.

Decisions like that have me wondering if Julien is still working for the Bruins.

Thanks PhysicX. All these late nights are taking a toll on me. I've amended my post accordingly.

Hey, 5th worst since 1977 -- still nothing to be proud of, huh?

To his credit, Galchenyuk looks better than he ever has. Actually seems to understand his defensive responsibilities and how to forecheck.

To be honest I'm not sure his defensive responsiblities are any worse or better than at the beginning of the season, pretty much all of us saw he wasn't a 4th liner and didn't deserve the BS he got from Meathead and Pumpkinhead.

I think that is what you want to believe.

I actually think he looked better at the start of last year.

I don't think Drouin has "struggled his whole career in the NHL".

I was referring to an aspect of his game. I never said he struggled his entire career overall, although there’s not much career to go off of considering he’s played a little over 2 seasons, and one of them for the most part was abysmal. He doesn’t make players around him better. He was a powerplay specialist in Tampa on a team with strong offensive players and he’s a powerplay specialist here, with an obvious dip in production there as well because of quality players.

You did mention he's played the better part of 2-3 seasons and then proceed to pigeon hole his value. He is young still too.

He has struggled at 5v5 his whole career, how's that? He is useless at even strength. We traded our best prospect for a guy who can only contribute on the power play.

I’m going off what I see from him on the ice. The stats back it up as well. Wingers mature much quicker then any other position. 23 is obviously young but you usually have a good idea of what they are at that age. We traded a young cost controlled defenceman who filled a much greater need then a winger. When you look at organizational needs, players like Sergachev are far more valuable then players like Drouin. We need players who can move the puck from our defensive zone in the worst way right now making it look worse. Players like Drouin can be found threw trade for a cheaper price or drafted and developed much easier. There’s a reason why nobody wants to give up young defenceman unless it’s for a huge overpayment and Jonathan Drouin certainly isn’t that.

We will see! I hope you're wrong but I understand your point. I'd like to see Drouin as a winger where he can avoid having too many difficult defensive assignments.

The fact he hasn’t been on the wing is why I’m not writing him off. He’s horrible defensively, but that part never surprised me as he has no experience at Center outside of one season in junior. He’ll be able to get away with more on the wing, although he still needs to put in a much better effort to improve in that area. I still think the trade is bad because of what Sergachev could’ve potentially filled for us, but what’s done is done. If he can find a way to be productive, and more then just on the powerplay, I’ll be happy. But we haven’t seen that from him in the NHL yet.
