Has anyone followed much of Guy Debord's research or read his 1967 Philosophical book 'The Society of the Spectacle'?
It's a strikingly accurate depiction of the trend that society started to take around that time and describes today's society almost to a T.
The work is available for free in various places on the internet. I've found this one to be the most straight-forward and recent version, including a preface from Debord written in 1992, only two years prior to his death.

The work translates seamlessly from its context in 1967 into today.
