Well another night........ another loss!!!!! This team is lacking in so many areas right now. I am not sure what is the status of Hillis and Bertuzzi but at this point it might be best to keep them as far away from this team as possible. Ride out the last games of the season and do a reset. With the way things are going the Storm could very well finish 16th overall this year. That is after having the 1st overall pick in 2016 and 2nd overall pick last year. This team desperately needs a 2010 quality draft class out of this upcoming draft. Mr Burnett you have a lot of work to do.

After watching some of Mr. Burnett’s “systems”, I’m not sure I have a lot of faith. Can anyone explain this own-zone 5 on 5 box defence that constantly makes the other team look like they’re on the PP? This seemed to have emerged about 12-15 games ago - what’s the record look like in that period of time?

Down 1-0, on the PP in a must win game, a free puck behind the net to pick up and take it up the ice, the closest Saginaw forward is at the red line with a bit of speed eying down his potential lane. Our supposed PP specialist and supposed all star defenseman Merkley is on the ice. Merkley very casually skates back, not putting an inkling of thought into any kind of hustle and the Saginaw player catches up to him and creates a 50/50 chance for his team on the boards and it's a mad scramble for Guelph. PP wasted.
There was ZERO offensive pressure at all for 2 periods in a must win game, simply not good enough.

I've had enough for this year. Weaksauce hockey.

Honest question for the older folks who have been watching hockey for 30+ years, are you happy with the game of hockey right now? Are you happy with where it's heading?

I do not like this team.

I do not like the current style of play in the OHL

Watching this team recently just exacerbates my ire.

It's true, Merkely leaves a lot to be desired. Make no mistake though, this team, even without him, would be in tough to make the playoffs.

This whole organization needs to start taking character and winning a little more seriously.
To start - get a GM who understands the "new" OHL, and who isn't also TRYING TO COACH AT THE SAME TIME!!!
Step one would be hiring a GM who understands the "new" OHL and who isn't ALSO TRYING TO COACH THE TEAM!!!

Until they do so, I'll have an easy time figuring out how to better spend $120 on a Friday night.

Love the players, dislike the team - that's possible, right?

Yes. We get it. But that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

I think we’re starting to understand Belleville Bulls’ fans posters of the past....they warned us.

Oh, and Fudgeo, to answer your question and akin to RCS, I do not like the style of play in the OHL either (if that was what RCS was referring to). I like the creativity, but also find it is becoming overcreative in a lot of offensive scenarios. The defensive end of the game sucks, as does the forecheck - and I’m talking across the league. At one time, bone-crushing checks could change a game - not talking hits from behind, but just a good hard hit to swing the play - not there anymore. I was never a fan (or was I?) of the buckets-off fights at face offs, but I still think a spontaneous tilt (not in retaliation for a good, clean open ice or board hit though) should still be acceptable in the game (cue immediate non-fight arguments). The game is getting soft at this level, which I think is leading to the brutal calls that everyone’s gets upset over.

George has had a short time here, but the paper talent should have been something to work with. I smell a Brooks’esque revolt coming shortly if things don’t show a marked turnaround soon.

play in front of goal change was first indicator of a meltdown of the game....it produced d's like merk..not really a D... wish ya well Ryan..

How the team plays in the first two periods will make the difference between purchasing payoff tickets or not.

Guelph 4-2 Ratcliffe ( fingers crossed)
