Depends on whether the game is meaningless (if Switzerland defeats France in the game currently in progress, which is highly likely) or if it can still push Slovakia into the play-offs.

If the game is meaningless, I agree Slovakia should win it easily. But if it turns out to be all-decisive, Slovakia may well collapse under pressure and lose. Slovaks are (in)famous for their weak psyche – inability to win games they're supposed to win, and being successful when they're underdogs.

Poor Slovakia.

That's five straight years of missing the QF at the worlds.

Such a dramatic fall from the 2000-2010 era.

Well, instead of improve to 3:0, we use our own powerplay to let BLR even game 2:2. That's why we are out of QF.

Such a dramatic fall from the 2000-2010 era.

In terms of this tourney, it's more like the 2000 – 2007 era. Slovakia nearly finished dead-last in 2008, and that's where the downfall officially began. Between 2008 and 2018, that's 11 World Championships, Slovakia has failed to make the play-offs 9 (!) times. There was the flash-in-the-pan silver medal in 2012 and a quarterfinal game in 2013. That's it. In eleven years.

(Even for Vancouver 2010, you could say it was an unexpected "Rebellion of Old Men", sort of "Last Hurrah", rather than a continuation of the Golden Era. Another attempt at "Last Hurrah", largely by the same cast, in front of the home crowd at the 2011 World Championships, failed miserably – you could see that the best days had long passed them by.)

But Slovaks still have some results in WJC20. I think that they played a bronze medal game in 2009 and 2015, while this year beat USA. So, yeah, from Slovaks people still wait more.
