Wednesday and Thursday large chunks of El Capitan broke off face, falling to Yosemite valley floor. Thursday's fall resulted in fatality (at/near base).
And park (and all US national parks, monuments) is free to public this weekend.
When I hear Yosemite and Granite... I think of Dave Paulides. If you've not heard of him, do a Youtube search for some of his interviews on Coast To Coast AM. Creepy stuff.
