Last week, Governor John Hickenlooper sent a congratulatory letter to the Eurolanche Fan Club. In the letter, he congratulated Eurolanche on its recent 10th anniversary, highlighted its uniqueness, mentioned the Fan Club’s nine previous Eurolanche Invasions, and, last but not least, expressed his gratitude for Eurolanche's hard work on both continents across the Atlantic over the course of its 10-year existence. "I want to thank you for representing and organizing fans of the Avalanche in Europe, and for building transatlantic ties with Coloradans," writes the Governor in the letter. "With the Avalanche in playoff contention this year, it's an exciting time to be a fan. Again, congratulations on your organization's 10th anniversary, and go Avs!"
"Eurolanche made history with this amazing moment. I believe we are the very first fan club of a Coloradan sports franchise to have recieve such an honor - and maybe the only one on the entire NHL market," said Eurolanche Founder and President David Puchovsky. "The letter from Governor John Hickenlooper means everything to us. On one hand, it shows that we are doing a great job, but on the other one, it’s a commitment for us to work even harder and to never give up on our support of the Colorado Avalanche and the State of Colorado."
Eurolanche received the congratulatory letter two weeks before the Eurolanche Invasion X. Five Fan Club members will spend two weeks in the US as part of Eurolanche's tenth trip. They will attend five Avalanche home games and two away games in Chicago and Columbus. In total, 54 Eurolanche members participated at the past nine Invasions, attending a total of 56 Avalanche games.
Governor John Hickenlooper, a member of the Democratic Party, is serving his second term as Governor of the State of Colorado after being re-elected in 2014. Prior to becoming Governor, Hickenlooper served as the mayor of Denver for eight years (two consecutive terms).
