    Funny seeing this posted. I forgot all about Gordy, and looked him up last week to watch some of his fights, and read about him.
    When I was 19, around the same time he was the World Superheavy Kickboxing Champ (perhaps a fewyears later), he was bored and asked to come work (doorman) with me (he knew the owner).

    Super nice guy. Always joking.
    Lo and behold, there were guys that tried to pick a fight with him. Gord didnt even think about responding (1 guy in particular tried everything to get Gord to go).

    Anyways, a really tough Canadian. I wonder how far he could have gone if he started boxing when he was younger and didnt have the foot issue.

    my dad used to work in logging with him in Port Alberni way back.I missed my only chance to see him fight live against Leon Spinks in Nanaimo.I was still a kid most of his career,had a Gordie Racette pin i'd wear on my jacket.
