EDIT - TSN.ca Staff with files

2/4/2005

Sudden-death NHL labour talks ended Friday after four hours.

The NHL and the NHL Players' Association met from 11 a.m. EST and ended talks around 3 p.m. EST. NHLPA Executive Director Goodenow said that no progress has been made in the past two days and the Players' Association is on its way back to Toronto.

No future talks are planned and both sides will stay in contact.

Meeting over, waiting for comments...

Edit:
According to Fan590:
No agreement. Goodenow looking Solomn, going back to Toronto. Doesn't have much hope.

Who doesn't have much hope? Goodenow or Fan590?

ESPN for one . . . I posted this in another thread:

NHL expected to announce cancellation of '05-'06 season on Fri.

(National-NBC) Feb. 4, 2005 - A sports milestone could be reached on Friday, but it won't be a good one. ESPN is reporting the National Hockey League will call off the rest of its season, barring a miraculous, last-minute labor settlement.

Somewhere I hear Jim Morisson singing, "This is the End..."

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Goodenow, yes son, I want to kill you
Bettman...i want to...

Goodenow....Howard Berger said this was as upset as he's seen Goodenow throughout this process.

Well, then he should just put himself out of his own misery.

so much for Goodenow being a great deadline negotiator.

hes probably pissed not because of the season being cancelled, but because he wasnt able to make the owners cave at the deadline, like many say hes great at.

Well, NHLPA. This is your leader. He just sacraficed a season so you can play for $400 a Week. Next year, when the offer is smaller, and more and more players are speaking out, make sure you believe it was worth it.

Farewell to Mario,StevY, Messier, Chelios, Thomas, Andreychuk, Robitaille, Stevens, Hasek,... It's shame you have to leave like this. Maybe you could have done more to save the season, maybe not...

Farewell to guys like Forsberg who won't come back.

Farewell to guys like Kovalchuk who will make more money in Russia with the players' salaries when the league comes back.

Farewell NHL, you might not be back when I will finish my studies here in 2 years...

ET ALLEZ VOUS FAIRE ..... GOODENOW ET BETTMANN !

first they should at least give the players a vote and then lets see the teech of the deal, if NHL didn't even throw them a bone, and if Greedenow's reaction is any indicator sounds true, then the NHL should be ashamed of themselves.

thanks for taking something i love away, probably for good.

Continueing the song theme:

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,
But I'm sure we'll meet again some sun - ny day.
Keep smiling through, just like you always do
Till the blue skies chase the dark clouds far a - way.

Lets hope that the rumors about Goodnow saying to the players that he's not coming back without a deal. FIRE Him if that's the case.
