Interesting.

http://www.cbc.ca/story/sports/national/2005/07/06/Sports/avery050705.html

As the deal that would put NHL players back on the ice inches toward completion, Bob Goodenow, the head of the players' union, is absent from the negotiation table.

A source inside the talks told CBC he hasn't seen Goodenow in quite some time and that NHLPA president Trevor Linden and union director Ted Saskin have been driving the negotiations on the behalf of the players for the past month.

No suprise.
Deadline Bob is going to distance himself from his disaster as
much as possible.

Maybe he is just using his vacation weeks for this year seeing as he will probably not have a job soon. Why work when you can get paid for free? :dunno:

It won't help him. Rejecting a part in the final contract won't save him from the simple fact that his failure put the NHLPA in the position of having to accept that contract in the first place.

Neither Goodenow nor any of the PA lawyers are drawing a salary during the lockout.

Goodenow's last charge would be like the battle scene in Silent Movie.

Kind of reminds me of those vets told "why don't you skip mini-camp and OTAs this year" prior to the June 1 salary cap friendly cut date.

He should be hiding after the way his ass has been handed to him.

Owners and Bettman get everyting they wanted AND Goodenow out of the picture. This is as close to union busting as you will ever see.

Anyone think the Oners might vito some of the players on the NHLPA executive committee?

If the Owners are mad enough wiht the way teh PA executive committe has negotiated maybe guys like Boughner, Damphouse, Klat, Guerin wont be back in the new CBA. Of course if they have deal they might be back or they might be bought out.

Yeah i woulnd't doubt Bob is on teh phone trying to secure his job and stick it to the owners one last time. What scares me about that is the players are probably stupid enough to follow him again aswell.

Why would they agree to this unless they wanted to quit

Damphousse should retire anyways but that's beside the point

You don't honestly believe this, do you?

He could try, but does he even HAVE enough supporters at this point to fill up a volkswagon, never mind put a dent into a ratification vote?

How about Gettysburg
I take you haven't seen Silent Movie.

The Pickett's charge already happened, it seems Goodenow will be standing all alone when this has already happened. Besides, Pickett wasn't in charge of the Charge, Longstreet was.

In Silent Movie, the war scene takes place in the Revolutionary War, there are three rows of soilders. The first row readies, kneels, aims, and fires. The second does the same, but the first row didn't move, they are all killed by the men behind them. The third row does the same, killing all the men in the second row.
