Harding and Price are the 2 best for my money...

Price has shown it in the WHL, and AHL.

Harding has shown it at every level including the NHL where he's been downright scary when he's got his chances. Backstrom will not hold him off too long.

and rask has shown it in the finnish league wich is a better league then both the WHL and the AHL.

IMO price, rask and harding are extremely close. it comes down to who you like the most for the 1-3 places.

After 14 votes, here's the ranking (8 points for the first, 7 for the second,...)

Price 102
Rask 95

Harding 73
Bernier 63
Montoya 61

Pogge 44
Irving 37
Schneider 29

Clearly, we can see three groups!

Harding, Bernier and Pogge are the three goalers on which posters have clearly different opinions.

this a discussion that will never end. you have both rask and price fans here and you can make an excellent case for both of them, they are both going to be stars in the NHL IMO. it just comes down to who you like more.

Yes I agree, I feel i havn't seen enough of Rask to say who is the better keeper, I think they are definetly the top 2 in the world right now in terms prospects. I just didn't like how he was trying to prove a point by including all the stats that made Rask look good and leaving out all of Price's best stats particularily the ones in the AHL playoffs which are most imporatant as people who have been Rask>Price in this argument have been going on about how Price hasn't done anything against men, well now he has.

Wow... thats awfully high for Frazee :amazed:

Well...it's based only on what I saw at WJC (2 games), and/but I really liked what I saw in Frazee...(his style, technique).

I know it's only 2 games BUT I'm coming out clean with this!! (being honest;))

I wish I could have been a professional scout so I could see (live) almost every goalie out there several times each.

Anyways...for what I saw I'd say he has a lot of potential one day (good for Rangers fans). Also...lots of time with Lundqvist there;)

Wow Irving gets incredibly little love around here for a guy who has absolutely torn apart the WHL for 3 straight years........he has been consistently better then Carey Price in the dub.

My list:

Carey Price
Josh Harding
Tuuka Rask
Leland Irving
Al Montoya
Jonathan Bernier
Justin Pogge
Cory Schnieder

not much. other then being one of the best goalies in the finnish league two years in a row (against men) at age 18 and 19.

IMO that's a huge accomplishment:handclap:
Semen Varlamov was one of the best goalies in Russian SuperLeague at the age of 18, and almost no one mentioned him. Is that fair?

Nope, it's not. Not that I would say he is so good as Rask or have same amount of potential, BUT he is good, very promising goalie. And thank god for Russia that they are having so potential goalie coming up in ages. And isn't Semen 19 already, turned like month ago or so... just making it straight.

no its not. but i think a lot of people here have trouble following him. stats for russian players are hard to find if you dont know russian and obviously not a lot of people here watch the RSL on a regular basis.

I was talking about the season, when he was 18. Now he's 19, that's right

I never said he was better than Rask. And never thought so. But he is a year younger.

I think Rask, Price an Montoya are definitely better prospects right now, but Semen can easily be compared to Harding, Irving, Pogge, Schwarz and in Varlamov's favor.

The most important thing about him is that he is very consistent for his age. I've never seen that consistency (from russian goalie) since Nabokov play for Dynamo Moscow. Bryzgalov was not even close, for example

i see. the only thing i have seen from varlamov this season is the WJC where he was great. i cant wait for the battle between him and neuvirth.
