its kind of ironic.......
when MB was hired our strength was defense.....now its our weakness
MB will draft a center at 3OA.....he has no other choice,
i am sure the man is getting very tired of the #1C questions after 6 years.....so he will use this pick to stop all of those questions,
after the draft, if anybody asks about the #1C position he can just say that it is now taken care of,
you heard it here from me......BOOK IT!!
What if his scouting team doesn't project any players to be #1 or good #2 centers?
doesn't matter....MB's #1 concern is to try to silence questions
I hate MB with a passion. But I honestly think he's going to "retool" this team according to his new vision, taking into account both the present and the long term.
His old vision was Shaw, Alzner, Schlemko, Benn, Weber over Subban, and deeming Radulov and Markov expendable.
But he does seem to now realize that players have to be fast. I don't think he would have signed Alzner after this way-behind-the-rest-of the-league realization of his. That's why he went out and got Reilly and why Mete wasn't sent back to junior midway through the season.
It remains to be seen whether he's going to go out and get fast players with the right "attitude" but not much skill (like Shaw). I can only hope we don't lose more top players like Subban, Radulov, and Markov.
And god is great if this year is his last kick at the can. It's enough torture that he's getting one more year. I don't think I can take any more of this. I'm ready for one last year of frustration. The uglier it gets the better. The worst would be if Bergevin makes some decent, slightly above lateral moves and we either squeak into the playoffs and lose because we can't score or just miss the playoffs and, in either case Molson is happy with the improvements.
The consensus #3 pick is Zadina. If not the "consensus", then the most frequent #3 in draft rankings, mock drafts, etc ...
OTOH, we have Bergevin who ...
* blundered in letting go 3 puck moving d-men.
* desperately needs a centerman
* loves grit and character
This points to one of Kotka, Tkachuk, Hughes, Boqvist.
The question is: will Bergevin listen to his scouts and follow their list, or will he be tempted by team needs? If the latter, I'd like to see him call Detroit, Chicago and possibly the Rangers to see if any are willing to give up two 1sts to move up.
If the Habs stray from the consensus, i really hope they get another asset in the process.
It's supposed to be to build the best team possible....
If he has any brains he drafts BPA then if we don't get Tavares he rips team apart and he'll get another top pick for next 2 years anyway.
this Tavares nonsense really needs to stop.....its just that....nonsense
JT isn't leaving one gong show to come to an even bigger gong show.....money won't matter
Never said he will. Just saying what logic should be.
