I have never done this before.......

1. St.Louis: Erik Johnson: Blues future Pronger replacement, nuff said

2. Pittsburgh: Phil Kessell: the Penguins go for Phil the Thrill on this pick, with Crosby and Malkin down the middle, they the Guins need an explosive winger to complement either one of them

3. Chicago: Jonathan Toews: The Blackhawks have a tendancy to take players from the NCAA or players going that route, he seems the best pick for them at this point in time of the draft.

4. Washington: Jordan Staal: McPhee can't get enough of the Staal family phenominon and takes Jordan Staal. This large talented center is gonna be the future centerman for A.O and will create plenty of space for A.O to work his magic.

5. Boston: Nicklas Backstrom: Boston is looking for that future centerman to ride shotgun to Patrice Bergeron. Backstrom is the most mature player in this draft, and could help Boston sooner rather than later.

6. Columbus: Peter Mueller: Columbus is looking to dip into the WHL draft pool once again this year and take the talented Mueller. Look for Mueller to be the solid 2nd line center Columbus is looking for to replace Fedorov when he retires

7. NYI: Bryan Little: The Islanders will draft an OHLer 1st rnd once again,Impressed by Littles offensive talents and his impressive combine results they draft the stocky foward.

8. Phoenix: Derrick Brassard: Gretzky sees Brassard as a perfect fit for the new NHL and takes the offensive dynamo.

9. Minnesota: Bob Sanguinetti: Puck moving dmen are gold in the new NHL, and one with Sanguinetti's offensive abilities is too good to pass up for Minny. Minny also shows a tendancy to take players from the OHL more so than anyother league.

10. Florida: Jiri Tlusty: Florida takes this crash and bang offensive Czech player, he will likely play in the OHL next year so Florida can keep close tabs on him.

11. LA: Kyle Okposo: LA is suprised Okposo fell to them and gladly pick up this husky powerforward in the making

12. Atlanta: James Sheppard: Atlanta goes back to the QMJHL for seconds (last year they picked Bourret). The Thrashers feel that they can mold Sheppard into a #1 or #2 centerman to create space for the likes of Kovalchuk and Hossa.

13. Toronto: Michael Frolik: JFJ creams his pants when he realizes Frolik falls to there spot. Frolik could be an offensive star or be a Euro leaguer.

14. Vancouver: Nigel Williams: Vancouver loves the huge project defenseman, they love his skating ability and size combination and can't resist.

15. Tampa Bay: Riku Helenius: Tampa needs depth everywhere pretty much, but are impressed with the way Ramo is developing in Finland so they take the best Finnish goalie available in Helenius and hoped they hit a home-run

16. Montreal: Carl Sneep: Montreal goes off the board a little and drafts a much needed big dman with some offensive abilitys. Playing in a High School league where the competition is poor they hope that he can translate his skills in higher competition.

17. Minnesota: Chris Stewart: Minnesota dips into the OHL pool once again and pick up the falling forward, Minny figures if he can't become a top 6 forward he would make a great intimedating 3rd line checker that can chip in once in awhile.

18. Colorado: Claude Giroux: This pick is a result of a gut feeling of mine. Colorado sees great offensive potential in this small offensively talented forward and thinks they found a gem.

19. Anaheim: Cory Emmerton: Burke loves this kid and looks past the bad tournament he had and figures his impressive season in Kingstom means soemthing special.

20. San Jose: Michael Grabner: The Sharks decide to take this speedy Austrian sniper. Being impressed with Setoguchi's progress, they decide to take from the WHL again. Grabner was on a terrible team and would have produced far better numbers if he was on a better team.

21. New York Rangers: Nick Foligno: After watching the progress of Marc Staal very closely they noticed Nick Foligno and loved the way he plays. They pick him and figure he could become a solid 3rd liner at least.

22. Philadelphia: Ty Wishart: Just what Philly needs annother big dman right.... Well, Wishart is big, mobile and has some offensive abilitys and Hatcher isn't getting any younger..

23. Washington: Trevor Lewis: Washington goes off the board a little and takes this USHL star. They hope he can translate his success in the NCAA and then possibly the NHL.

24. Buffalo: Ben Shutron: Buffalo has a tendancy to draft from the OHL, they decide to take the best all-around dman available. Shutron can be physical, PPQB and has one of the hardest shots in the entire draft.

25. New Jersey: Patrick Berglund: Conte finds annother Swedish gem. This guy is big and is quite skilled. He is a project and will take some time to develope.

26. Calgary: Ben Maxwell: Sutter finally relizes that he can't keep drafting role defesnive players. So he takes a player with plenty of offensive upside from the WHL,(the league he is most familliar with).

27. Dallas: David Fischer: This years Mr. Hockey, is too good to pass up. They like the way Niskanen is progressing so they take annother H.S player.

28. Ottawa: Alexander Vasyunov: Ottawa has tendancies to draft Russians, they were one of the few teams to have the balls to draft Russians and they drafted more than one. With Ottawa's depth they can afford to wait and mold Vasyunov into the offensive player he can be.

29. Detroit: Dennis Persson: Detroit finds yet annother Swedish gem, in the form of a dman. They feel Persson can become a top 4 dman to complement Kronwall in the future.

30. St.Louis: Michael Forney: St.Louis takes the best skill/size combanation available. They feel that Forney will progress simmilar to Oshie and this pick is a no brainer.

constructive criticism is much appreciated :)

Good overall mock though I'd prefer if the Nucks took Berglund over Williams, because we need a forward more than a defender.

I would tend to agree, but if Sheppard or Tlusty isn't available, Williams is probably the BPA at that point. God, I hope at least Sheppard, Little, Tlusty, or Frolik drops to 14.

Sheppard is a good player and so is Frolik, but I could see Atlanta picking JS over MF.
I really like this mock.:thumbu:

If Berglund is available at #21, it is highly unlikely the Rangers will pass on him, especially for a player like Foligno that the Rangers have in ample supply in their oragnization - Greg Moore, Brodie Dupont, Dane Byers, just for a few examples. The Rangers are looking for top line talent, and rumors persisit they are looking to move up. If they stand pat, they are most likely going to target a highly skilled forward who can play on the top two lines. (If a quality D-man falls into their lap, a la Nigel Williams, then, he, too, is a possibility.) Berglund represents something the Rangers lack in their organization - a big, skilled center, with top six potential. Now, if Berglund is not there at #21, and the Rangers haven't dealt up to get him, (something they have done in each of the past two drafts in the 1st round), Foligno is a possibility. (Although, I still see them taregtting a center - Anisimov or Fiala are possibilities.)
