He's a bum. Calgary and now us have seen addition by subtraction by taking him out of the lineup...

There was also a quote from a couple days ago that said he tried him on line two to start, but he didn't have much chemistry, so he moved down the lineup. So maybe chemistry.

He had 4 goals and 6 points in his first 7 games as a Cap so how bad could the chemistry have been...?

Its not completely uncommon for a guy or line to get a short boost from new blood. Usually just from some combination of hustle/desire/excitement. Not saying your wrong, but it happens.

FWIW I have no complaint about the trade. It gave the team a boost at a time when their momentum had been derailed a bit by the ASG break, and he's useful depth here in the playoffs.

That said, definitely won't be a Cap next near.

We can't judge the trade yet. He is here for playoff depth. We are still in round 1.

A 2nd and 3rd rounder for "playoff depth" that is a healthy scratch is not a good deal. We might not make it out of round 1 because our additional "playoff depth" couldn't even stay in the line-up, let alone produce.

Certainly looks like a loss in hindsight.

But it's bearable, and it's a new GM, so I'm ok with the outcome especially if it teaches BM something.

Most important thing is don't do the crazy stuff. Aka Nylander, Laich, Erat. (Maybe Orpik, too, even if this particular gamble has worked out well so far.)

This is why I hate trade deadline deals...mgmt caves to pressure to make a deal...team giving up draft picks more often than not loses out.
Only if their scouting sucks. Although to be fair glenx is very much a Trotz player, if you look at his goals scored last season they're all from being a net front presence or driving to the net. I'm not sure why things are not working out for him here.

its possible to get an NHL player outside the first round but I'd bet that what Calgary got for glenx end up being nothing. odds are

The same assets could have been used to acquire a different/better current NHLer in a trade. Opportunity cost.

The same assets could have been used to acquire a different/worse current NHLer in a trade. Opportunity benefit.

At this point, why not let the playoff finish before grading the trade?

He certainly played well early on, which helped us in our playoff push. Most questioned the demotion when it happened. Many may have seen enough between Erat and Penner to decide on GX already. Others see Latta struggling and want more GlenX.

It's a shame Glencross isn't meeting expectations. He was on fire with you guys when he first got traded, but he really has turned into that player where he can go really hot, but then really cold.

Heard you got him in for game 7, so hopefully he has a good night for you guys.

Some of it's his fault but really he should be getting a jersey over Latta and Chimera

Chimera got better chance to score than Glencross I think. Those playmaking specialists Laich and Wilson... they will not help GlenX much.

Okay, now are we allowed to judge Glencross? :sarcasm:

The trade was clearly a bust. A 2nd and 3rd round picks for the worst forward on the ice most nights. He was modern Brooks Laich without the defensive responsibility. Too many defensive and neutral zone turnovers leading to chances for the other team.

What's become clear is that this team can no longer turn complimentary guys like Glencross, Laich, Penner, Chimera, and Brouwer into reliable scorers. Some of that is on the individual decline of those players, but even Ward only had three goals in the post-season.

We'd be fortunate if any of our heartless no-talent hacks played with half the drive of Jason Chimera. And that drive pays off when the game tightens up.

Chimera with as many goals as Brouwer, Johansson, Laich and Glencross combined.
