Fresh off of his two goal, three point performance in the Ducks' 7-3 Tuesday rout of the Edmonton Oilers, Zigmund Palffy arrived at the Pond on Wednesday with an appetite for destruction. Enroute to a 9-3 blowout of the Blackhawks last night, the Ducks outshot their opponents 38 to 12. The reality of it, though, is that this wasn't a team effort. As hot as Ziggy was, it might as well have been Peter Cetera in the Chicago lineup rather than Joe Sakic. On six shots against Alex Auld and Jocelyn Thibault, Palffy managed to pot five goals, including one powerplay marker. Tack on two assists, and Ziggy finished the night with seven points, instantly vaulting him into the top ten among scoring leaders. More importantly, Palffy has single-handedly stopped the Ducks' skid and pointed the team back in the right direction...towards the top of the Western Conference standings.
