How many more years of excuses and lack of results does GMGM get before he's fired? Does Ovechkin or Backstrom have to finally ask for a trade before Leonsis does ANYTHING?

The only CAPS team that has been beyond the second round since GMGM has been in charge wasn't built by GMGM. He tweeked the team he inherited.

GMGM has built nothing but a mediocre team but those seats stay filled so he must be a genius.

If it was an excuse to trade him, they are doing everything in their power to hold it as a fact.

Brouwer hasn't budged out of that 2RW spot, and he has ONE even strength point after a TEN EVpts season last year.

I just don't see why he's "glued" to that spot. Nobody else on the team, sans-Ovechkin, has that luxury. Why does Brouwer?

Lets take a trip back in the time machine nearly 7 years ago from today.

Man...I was one bitter dude back then thats for sure. I guess I got it all out of my system.

That letter to the fans is as funny now as it was back then.

Here is one of my quotes towards the last few pages:

Actually Ted was on XM the other day and mentioned that he'd make a big splash or two this offseason.

However, Ted and McPhee are satisfied with the D
I think they aim to grab a top center and perhaps a winger in there.
If they address the D it will be for a PP specialist who can play the point.

A few months later :

We signed Nylander, Kozlov and Poti (who Hanlon used as the point man on the PP up until BB got fired)

hahahaha

In fact a few posts down I joked that Nylander would be the center.

Can Mcphee hang his hat on any accomplishments since the 2010 season?

Can he hang his hat on any accomplishments since he took over? A presidents trophy is cute but meaningless as are the division banners when you consider no team he built has made it to the 3rd round.

the one team that he was GM for that did go to the finals he didn't build. He tweaked it.

Maybe he got 30-year contract for getting someone else's team to the finals in his first year.

Holy smoke, I'm on the road and following the scores and stats, and we were were up 3-1 and outshooting them 21-16. Did we just give up 14 straight shots? I've never seen a team like this that can get so dominated for long stretches.

You're underselling that President's Trophy team. That was an awesome team. And the Trophy is meaningful.

His work since then is a dumpster fire, however.

I agree with you. He was pretty close to having a winner there IMO, or at least a Finals team. He simply has made too many wrong/critical decisions since...

To be fair Eakin didn't look that great when he played in Washington and I didn't mind the trade for Ribeiro until we failed to resign him due to more GMGM incompetence. Though in hindsight it does look even worse considering the year he's having in Dallas.

The sad part is how many Capitals fans that fill Verizon Center actually understand that GMGM is the problem? There needs to be Fire McPhee signs all season.

Yesterday camera zoomed in the standings to see da hell are people doing. Can you guess, 90% of them were typing, surfing or whatever on their mobile phones. Dafaq!?
You pay the ticket just to surf on your mobile phone?!?!

But, minus the bad hockey Caps are so proudly presenting I would go to Verizon to actually score something, if you know what I mean. :naughty:

as I did back then, I disagree....it was a fun team to watch in the regular season but the fancy play and tic-tac-toe passing/scoring wasnt going to translate in the spring.....and it didnt. I am not of the opinion that it was all Halak.....Caps chased 2 goalies that series and when things tightened up during the last few games all the shots really didnt matter.....they couldnt/didnt get the the ugly goals when needed and the fancy passing PP stunk

Oates and his righty/lefty......

I'll start by saying Im not a fan of it but......seems like many here are acting like this is some new thing.....I know when I started watching/playing that was pretty much the standard....A guy that played his off-side was not typical.....or at least thats how i recall it. Again...I dont buy into it and things evolve.....but this isnt something "new"...its actually more an old school thing IMO
