I just have 2 questions.

What did the Swedish coach say exactly?

And will the game be shown on the Canadian NBC?

“It’s like choosing between the plague and the cholera,†Gustafsson
said in a translation provided by the IIHF. “Shall we pick our opponent or shall we do what it takes to win?â€

Gustafsson called it a “tricky situation†and a “difficult decision.†Asked if he would tell his team to lose, Gustafsson replied, “Eh, yeah, I don’t know what to say right now, but I feel like 0-0 would be a good score.â€

"- We're busy discussing within the squad about what's good to do and what's not. It's a tricky situation. Tough conditions, what to do, how to handle the situation. It's like plague or cholera, should you try choose opponent or do what you can to win and then take whatever comes? It's difficult. As it appears now it's going to be Switzerland, if think like that. If we win, it could be Czechs or Canada. Should you try winning or play a good game and go 0-0? There's a lot of thoughts running through our heads, it's tough."

As it is right now, if you lose you face the Swiss, and that's probably the best team to face.

- You never know. On paper the Swiss are a worse team, but they've playd incredibly well. They have tremendous goaltending and work hard. They're not the ideal opponent either. That's why I say 'plague or cholera'. What do you chose? We could end up in a tricky seat during the course of the game. We try to handle this professionally and will hopefully make the right decision"

I didn't realize Slovakia's coach is Marian & Marcel Hossa's dad... :dunce:

Definitely see the family resemblance!

I love this pic of Marian. His hat says "I'm a legend in Japan." :biglaugh:

Hahaha! They showed a sequence in PP where Holmström received 6 cross checkings in a row, then a roughing against the back of the head, then another cross checking. Do you think the ref made any call? :sarcasm:

BÃ…G in an interview for Swedish Radio:
http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/sport/story/0,2789,781950,00.html

Question:
It could happen SWE needs to lose against SVK to get SUI in the QF.
Let's say team SWE trails 2-1 in the end. How important would it be to
equalize?

BÃ…G:
Well, we shouldn't. Well, uh, we'll see what it looks like. It's a da*mn difficult
situation we can get into then. That's for granted. Actually I believe in a tie...
there's no problem. W can live with that. We try to practice things like that.
Practise 6-to-5 in a situation like that. Because with a tie I think we'll still get
to play the SUI.

Question:
It would be even worse if we have a lead with a couple of minutes to go and
the SVK don't show any interest of winning. What do you do then? That's the
next problem. Will the message be "Guys, don't win"?

BÃ…G:
Uh, I don't know what to say right now. Right now it feels like 0-0 would be
a nice result.

--------

I'm afraid this game is not going to be the biggest so far.

:biglaugh: homer never gets those calls. if the NHL hadn't changed the rules he would have been paralyzed by age 40.

Hahahahahaha! :biglaugh:

Holmström has received like 25 cross checking, a dozen roughings, etc.. what happens when Holmström battles for the puck and grabs the arm of the Slovakian player for a second? Penalty Holmström.

Come one ref, what an effing joke.

Can they really asked Tellqvist to let some shots in????

No, they obviously don't, they just let him play.... ;)

Have the Sedin twins even been on the ice yet? Inivisible.

Tellqvist has been playing good this far, nothing he could do on that 1-0 shot. He sure makes this loss look good. :D

Anyone think this might turn into a trapfest and end up 1-0?

Not really. Sweden don't want to win anyway. Dunno if Slovakia want to win. With the team they have they might want to take on big brother in the quarterfinals.
