outworked by a team on the road playing a lot of hockey in a few days.....looking like the effort we saw in Randy 1.0

Carlyle should have leaned on the 3rd line with the empty net. They were the ones getting any offensive pressure and pucks to the net in the third period.

I honestly did not know that Boll was even playing tonight. What is he supposed to be deterring - other than his line's ice time?

Yeah, sounds like not gonna watch this on replay...

It's about what you'd expect.

Not enough talent right now, and the talented players are playing too much and without talent around them. On top of that, Carlyle is using Vermette heavily for face-offs the way he liked to use Kesler, but because Vermette isn't a good player anymore he drags the play down for his teammates.

You think Murray is going to do anything to help this team compete right now? Or will he stand pat, wait for the injured guys to return and hope that we haven't fallen too far behind to catch up? He should get some scoring help since that's what this team has needed for awhile now, but I'm sure he'll do nothing and we'll far too far behind to reach the playoffs. Don't have a lot of hope with this team right now with they way they play, no effort or heart at all.

In previous years I would usually say that the ducks need to go on team building activity to raise everyone's spirits but the way the year has been going I'm sure it would just get someone like Cogliano and/or Wagner injured and we would be back to having Boll in the line-up.

Perry and Vermette looked slow in the 1st never mind with extra shifts in the 3rd!
Im legit worried about perry...I thought last year was just a down year and HOPED he would bounce back and look engaged...there is still plenty of time but im really starting to fear he is done as a top 6 NHL forward.

and vermette is probably done already.

I was ready to write some snarky remark about losing with Boll out of the lineup again, and then found out he was dressed!! I watched about 60% of the game too

If I were Murray, I'd be looking for a 3rd line center. A real one.

There is nothing he can do, realistically, to turn things around with this many players missing, but these injuries are emphasizing just how much Vermette is a face-off specialist and little else. He's not contributing in other ways, and that isn't going to change when the team is healthy.

Even if we assume Kesler and Getzlaf are going to be getting 20 minutes a game, when the team is healthy, they need a 3C who can actually play.

Edit: Also, get Boll the f*** out of the line-up and try to put together a 4th line that can play more than 4 minutes a game. Again, that will be helpful when the team is healthy and it will help now.

Wow count me as another person that didn't know Boll was playing. I actually was thinking during the game "I guess Boll isn't in tonight." Just useless. The team sucks. Might as well just make our top line Wagner-Grant-Cogs, they're the only ones playing with any heart out there.

To be fair, it's not like Perry and Ritchie aren't doing a bang-up job dragging their play down on their own.
