It's either Russian or I had too much vodka at happy hour tonight. Although it could be both...
Turns out it is Russian, you, I and our vodka were all correct!
It's actually just Cyrillic script, which is used to write Russian, as well as many other Slavic languages including Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Rusyn, Ukrainian, Serbian (Serbian is also legally written in Latin script), as well as some non-Slavic languages in some official capacity such as Kyrgyz, Mongolian, and some dialects of Romani.
To be fair, I was using the Russian Cyrillic alphabet to write this thread, and was checking Russian Wikipedia for the "proper" spellings of players' names and the team names (some weren't listed; I had to improvise on Emerson Etem, and it was interesting that they represent the J/soft G sound with the combination of "d" and "zh"; if I'd been doing it myself I might have used "ch" instead), since there isn't a Bulgarian Wikipedia page for the Coyotes at all, for example.
AHHHHH MOTHERLAND!!!!! *drinks vodka*
