CBC announcers pronouncing it Carry-yay, I’ve been using Carry-er. Who’s right?

I don't speak a word of French. That said, Carrier is from Quebec. I think the r is silent in French suffixes "er" and "ier." Carry-yay , therefore, would be the French pronunciation. I think.

Thanks guys. I could swear I heard the Knights broadcasters say Carry-er a few times this season, but that could just be my imagination.
