Made Canada's WJC final roster

He has had a monster year for Colgate on a fairly bad team.
The fact he made Team Canada is a great sign for Point as they could have taken him as their #3 goalie (based on the fact that he wouldn't miss any games with Colgate) and DiPietro as #2. Instead, by taking him as their second string DiPietro won't be on the team at all... unless there are major injuries.

Point is a proven winner and narrowly missed out winning the RBC Cup (Tier-2 Junior) with the Carleton Place Canadians a few years ago.
He's already building a pretty impressive resume http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=275708
And is about to become a household name in Canada.

He's starting against Slovakia tonight, I'm guessing it'll be his only start in the tournament but looking forward to seeing how he performs

Was pretty bummed Dipietro did not make the WJC team at all. However, Point is proving that he belongs. Congrats Dallas fans, you guys picked up a gem in Point!

It’ll be interesting to see who ends up better between Point & Oettinger. Good problem to have for Dallas (finally).

Kid learned as much as he could being the backup for Canada, came back and got a shutout first game back. Super pumped for him to be in Texas down the line and would absolutely love if him and Oettinger ended up battling it out for who will take over from Bishop down the line

Kid is a machine . Really hopeful about this one. Hopefully finally a goaltending prospect pans out. Who is the last goalie the Stars drafted that became an NHL regular ? Pretty sure thats Mike Smith in 2001 .

Blues fans, you have the luxury of watching Point and Oettinger develop. But if you had to choose between the two, who would you take going forwards?
Blues?

I’m assuming you meant Stars. Right now I’d probably take Point over Oettinger, due to proven performance, but that could easily flip in a year.

Yeah right know you'd have to take Point . He has been unreal this year but both are still a couple of years away so who knows who ends up better and how good they'll end up beeing.

Hard to say right now, but if we're basing it off of what they've done so far, Point has to be in the lead. Colgate is nothing without Point. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out over the next couple years. It'd be nice to get back into the habit like we used to of having too many good goalies coming up in the system like we did over the years with Fernandez, Turek, Turco, Smith, etc.

How far can he carry Colgate in the playoffs? 4 Games so far, 3 GA, 1 SO..

His current stats are 1.60 GAA and .949 SV% after 31 games

Season over. Can only carry a bad team so far and get so many shutouts. Playing 3 in 3 for the second weekend in a row is recipe for disaster.
