After sputtering through the Ducks' quarterfinals triumph over the San Jose Sharks, the pressure was on Jeff Friesen to step up offensively in the second round against the Detroit Red Wings.

Friesen, who finished third on the Ducks this season with 31 goals, struggled in Game 1 at Joe Louis Arena. However, knowing his team desperately needed to split the first two games in Motown, Mr. Freeze played the best nine minutes of his life in Game 2, registering two goals and four shots in the Ducks' 3-1 victory.

"Jeff really came through for us today," praised Coach John Tortorella.

"Detroit is a very solid team defensively, and we know they're going to be all over E and Ziggy in this series. We're going to need guys like Freeze and Daze to make big contributions."

--------------------------

When asked about his team's 0-7 performance on the powerplay in Game 2, Tortorella had the following to say...

"If Francis' hachetmen are going to continue to give us those kinds of chances, we need to start cashing in. We can't let a moron like Billy Guerin get away with cheapshots for free."

Tortorella singled out Guerin after the Detroit winger knocked Richard Matvichuk out of Game 1, and took a run at Sean Burke in Game 2.

BAH!!!
Apparently the top unit did not respond to the challenge to step up their game. In fact they were the goats.
This will need to be addressed
