Not sure if this should go in prospects or UFA thread.

Finnish newspaper Iltalehti reports that forward Saku Mäenalanen has signed with the Hurricanes for next season. He is currently playing the Worlds.

Quoting for clarity that this is just the same thing that you said but with a little bit of insight

The article from Iltalehti, which is a tabloid that usually has sensationalistic headlines and stories, says that according to their sources Maenalanen has signed with CAR.
Maenalanen had a stat line of 17+29=46, 59 games in the regular season with Karpat and had 5+5=10 points in the playoffs. He won the Finnish championship with Karpat.
I'm expecting it to be a 2-way contract but that remains to be seen.

Now I can talk as a fan of the team he played for this season.
He played on the 2nd line and had powerplay time throughout the whole season, played better than his linemates only in spurts. Was promoted to 1st line duties in the finals and flourished with his time there.
This move may be a rekindling of WJC 2014 since Teravainen led in points for Finland in that tournament and Maenalanen led the goalscoring. After that Teravainen made his mark quickly in the NHL yet Maenalanen stayed in the Finnish league and Karpat.

Carolina Hurricanes on tänä keväänä kiinnostunut useista suomalaispelaajista. Joukkueen pelaajatarkkailijana toimii Oulusta käsin entinen huippupuolustaja Joni Pitkänen, jonka käsialaa Mäenalasen sopimus pitkälle on.
Loosely translated;
Carolina Hurricanes has been interested in multiple Finnish players during this spring. The teams player observer, former top-defenseman Joni Pitkanen works from Oulu, whose work Maenalanen's contract largely is.

Has to be a 1-year, 2-way ELC contract as he will be 24 by September 15.
