Also regarding John Grahame for your records Nick, The Panthers locked him up as soon as they acquired him at the trade deadline last year, so it was a while ago...lol

Thank god I managed to hang on to that email cause I just went through cleaning out a bunch of old HFNHL stuff to make room.

Nick, I could forward that email to you if you want. It was the same one where we had the contract talks with regarding Jeff Halpern, Scott Barney, Wade Dubielewicz among others.

Right you are Brock. I simply pulled that name from the New Jersey negotiations.

Of note, this is probably not the only edit that will take place. Others may be removed from the list (or added) as I'm enlightened about other signings on record.

Just curious, but would the reason that Washington and Los Angeles have so many UFA is the fact that their respectives GM's did not make any qualifying offers or offers period ?

If that is the case, wouldn't it be in the best interest of the league to do something ?

LA must have re-signed Blake and Leetch, so they haven't been totally inactive with respect to signing impending free agents. I don't know the answer, but seemingly they haven't simply done nothing to bring back players.

Gotcha. Andrew's had some family concerns, so he hasn't been able to make offers to his guys it seems...

Nick,
I'm not sure how you are handling released prospects this season.

Traditionally, for the convienence of the player agent at least, we have done the once per annum prospect releases about this time. That way, in the event that another GM wanted to sign a released prospect, all offers would be submitted at the same time.
I rarely sign them but for some reason every year someone signs at least one of my throw away trash prospects and I wouldn't want anyone to miss the opportunity this year. :D

If Mr. Swingstein has decided to process these at a later date please let us know when or how you wish to proceed.

BTW, as per my earlier e-mail you can add David Holmqvist to that prospect release list.

Re: Scott Fergusson

NIck,

I just noticed that Scott Fergusson is under UFA and RFA list. I think he should be UFA due tio his age.

Dont you know that Mr Holmqvist is a former MODO player? The new rule is that you cant release former MODO players :)

Thanks for all teh hard work Nick/Reggie! I do believe the released prospects have gotten added onto that list as a seperate category in past years.

One minor correction: Paul Elliott (CBJ) is a defenceman, not a forward. As if anyone cares! :toothless

What about the players who has already left for Europe? Mikael Renberg, Jonas Höglund, Kent Manderville, Daniel Tkaczuk, Shjon Podein and probably a few more players. Will they still be able to play in hfnhl 04/05 or will they be removed from the free agency list?

Similar to retired players, teams are free to sign these free agents so that in the event the player does play in North America, they will play for the team they have signed with.

If they are signed, and play the season in Europe however (as per a commitment date, usually in September), then they will be moved to the team's prospect roster. The risk teams undertake by signing these players is the payment of a signing bonus, in addition to the prospect fee of $50,000 per season.

In terms of the prospect releases, I realize this is usually done now, but I really don't have the time to collect these lists right now. If a volunteer could step forward to send out a notice, receive the lists, and then compile them team by team for both a free agent list as well as providing to Josh or Dion to update the prospect rosters, that would be greatly appreciated.

Otherwise, it will have to wait until later in the summer. I believe there is still a prospect limit of 50, so following the draft, there will probably be at least a few teams that will need to trim things to get down below the limit.

The list shows a RFA D called "Sven Burenschon, Nashville". I think this should be "Sven Butenschon, Colorado". I re-signed him April 18th to a one year 495k deal, so he should be taken off the list.

Should have noticed before... the goalie list isn't quite as bad as it first seems, since G Felix Potvin (Columbus) is also an Unrestricted Free Agent. Just don't trample me in your rush to sign him, folks! ;)

Hey Fellas,

If noone has stepped forward to gather the lists of released prospects I would be happy to volunteer to help out with that... let me know

Note - Scott Walker, NY Rangers has been added to the UFA list.

Please let me know if I have missed any other that should be on the list. Amongst the literally hundreds of offers, a few have players missed being ported over from the master list in Excel to the message board. While these mistakes will be found on their own, it would be a pain to hold a special bidding period for a specific player ala Czerkawski last year - and perhaps, it will further add to the loyalty factor of the player in resigning with his previous team, should that team be the one giving the reminder to add them to their list. Honesty is often rewarded...

That would be great Matt. If you could post a message on the message board with the instructions on sending the lists to you, and perhaps send out an e-mail to the league-wide list, that will certainly get the ball rolling.

But before you do that, can someone confirm the prospect limit? I believe it's 50, but we should be sure, as Matt should mention that in his message in terms of teams realizing they have a limit of 50 to consider now that they've added a bunch of draft picks. Also, I believe prospects from the last two drafts don't cost anything (in this case 2003 and 2004), where other prospects ultimately cost $50,000 each, so that is another consideration for General Managers.

Thanks Matt!! Perhaps you can create a deadline of July 10th or so, and then you can compile a list of the prospect UFA's which can be added to the 2nd round of bidding on regular UFA's. Once the list is done, Reggie can take it from there.

Matt, feel free to contact me directly at [email protected], although posting clarification questions on prospects here is probably as logical as any medium, given Matt G, Douglas and Drew know more about all detailed rules than I.
