Babcock says Andersen will see Team Doctors tomorrow and they'll go from there.

----

I don't have a good feeling.

Reminds me of the 13-14 season when Bernier had an amazing season, team was in a playoff spot, he got injured with like 14-15 games left, the team ended up winning just like, 3 or 4 of the remaining games, and fell down the standings.

It got us Nylander though

Babs doesn't sound too pleased about it. If he failed the concussion protocol then they must have seen something but I didn't notice anything.

The other team's doctor wanted him pulled? Can't tell if that was done out of good faith or was trying to screw with the Leafs to try and gain some sort of advantage.

Apparently they asked him where he was born & when he didn't say Sweden they pulled him.

The Buffalo team doctor looked familiar too.

Leafs did not take their doctor. When you do not take your own you rely on expertise of other team's doctor. That doctor sure as heck does not want to screw around with any player on either team as far as concussion protocol is concerned. Andersen is important to Leafs and this game was not-even though that should not be the deciding factor.

Season is actually over if its a major injury.

even if Andersen doesn't play another game the season isn't over... with our offense we can still win games regardless how our backup plays. however with only 2 weeks left in the season it doesn't have to be a major injury to be out for the remainder of the regular season.

Edit: if it wasn't concussion protocol and Andersen told the leafs staff he was ok to play he probably would have regardless of what Buffalo's Doctor's said.

Is that standard practice? That seems pretty silly and reckless by the Leafs, or any team for that matter, to not bring them with the team at all times.

The home team doctor is connected with the local hospitals. The visiting team doctor couldn't offer anything more than an opinion. There is nothing silly or reckless about it.

Teams always used home team doctor's. During playoffs, when things were a little more secretive & players played through injuries, using your own team doctor could be a benefit.

Everything used to be handled through your trainers & if it required a doctor immediately, you used the other teams. If not, you waited until you got home or visited the local hospital.

Now with concussion protocols & such, teams may want to bring their own doctor, but with the Hippocratic Oath, doctors should be 100% impartial, truthful & keep things confidential.

What the ****. So the other teams doctors decided he can't play. Doesn't that sound weird? Don't we have our own doctors on the trip?

Oh & BTW, historically, players didn't necessarily trust their own "team" doctors. They were paid for by the owners & some didn't trust whose interests the doctors would protect. (i.e., repeated cortisone shots & injections to numb things that shouldn't be numbed)

Ahhh, crap, what happened? Then bring up Sparks and see if he has a good game in him. Hope its just precaution, but concussion protocol is too damn important for the player and when its Andersen also for the team.

The doctors are impartial, or supposed to be. It sounds weird but if they put him in concussion protocol during the first intermission and he was fine he would have come back in the game. Then the "the home team shouldn't be able to pull the goalie" line of thought is fine. Since he didn't come back and is seeing team doctors when he gets back you can pretty much assume whatever they saw was pretty valid.

Not a Toronto fan, but I like Anderson and hope he comes back, just don't think it's fair to question the doctors opinion no matter what team they work for. Just like with serious injuries on the ice, the other teams medical and training staff come out to help, they may wear a different logo on their windbreaker but they aren't going to be risking players health and their careers to give an advantage to either team.
