I realized it was worth clarifying something before the FA period started, that being that Karel Rachunek is still a Vancouver Canuck, at least for one more year.

That problem child (we love you Karel) went to Russia for the 2005-06 season, while still under contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

As evidence to this, Rachunek after the 2003-04 season, found in the History section, was listed in the finances pages as "1,084,000 2 years". He was a member of the Oilers at the time.

Therefore, having skipped out on the 2005-06 season, he should be returning to Vancouver for one more season to finish that contract. For some reason he wasn't put on my prospects page, but I really thought nothing of it until now. I certainly didn't release him, so it shouldn't be too difficult. WIth the rollback, his 2005-06 salary should be $813,000.

Anyways, the point is to give those of you who may have wanted to bid on Karel a heads-up before the FA period because he is NOT a UFA, unless I'm missing something. I already ran this by one member of the admin team though, so it should be as simple as that.

Oh, and welcome back Karel. ;)

You should be all set with this... the "EuroList" thread has him listed as Canucks property: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=178208

Thanks. I completely forgot (and didn't see) that thread existed. Obviously if I had, I would have released those other European guys: Greg Classen, Petr Schastlivy, Pascal Trepanier and Burke Henry.

I'm guessing it's too late to add those guys to the FA pool eh?
