While he doesn't have an nhl future Brennan has excelled at th ahl level. Great to have a local guy with the team to provide leadership and stability

Every organization would be happy to have a local guy in the minors like this. It's good for the Flyers, good for their development program, good for Brennan.

In the unlikely event that Philly is ruined with injuries on the blueline (think: VGK goalies from earlier this season), then Brennan might get a chance to play some NHL games. But he isn't even really a depth signing. He's an AHL player, and it seems he's making a really good career out of that fact.

He would have played earlier in the season but was injured after he got called up

Good for him.

This has to be an example of hitting success while never being a NHL regular. Since his time with the Leafs he has made quite the salary for himself. Now he gets to play basically play a couple more years essentially as close to home as he can get to finish his career.

One of those guys. Too good for AHL but not good enough for NHL.

I guess they hope he'll still become something but at 28 years of age you probably are not improving anymore.

I can assure you we have no hopes for him of ever being more than an AHL body.

Because he's from the philadelphia area, is a great leader on that team, and is effective at the AHL level.

The only "what why" questions that should be asked here pertain to people overreacting about an AHL contract signing.

Players like this are a dime a dozen, though.

Seems mostly noteworthy only because he's playing for his home team.
