(HAP) The Flyers successfully clamied defenseman Brian Leetch from waivers tonight. The club has aggressively pursued veteran leadership and the addition of Brian Leetch signifies the club will do about anything to win now.

"We feel that man to man we're as good as any team in the league. The addition of Martin Brodeur earlier in the year prompted us to put all our efforts into winning this year and the acquisition of Brian Leetch further aids us in achieving our goals," said GM Mannarino.

Although Leetch is well past his prime, he still brings great skating ability, passing and offensive insticts plus he provides veteran leadership and Stanley Cup experience.

The Flyers don't anticipate Leetch playing in their next game as he tends to personal matters but he's expected to play this weekend.

I'm still waiting to hear what 'future considerations' the Isles offered the Flyers to take his salary off their hands :sarcasm:

The future consideration is guaranteed playoff spot. It is better than what Leafs paid for Leetch couple of yearsa ago:D

And what happens if that guarantee doesn't happen? ;)

Then again with a few more games for Philly against the Isles and Rangers, that might be worth a playoff ticket alone :(
