I'm excited to see what this kid will bring to the big club.

Good for Mangi, earned it.
I hate the Flames have to literally be dealt shit hands before they finally play kids, instead of giving people who earn it a chance. No reason Mangi shouldn't be in over some of the junk we've had on the 4th line.

While I'm excited to see if he can spark some offense, I am a bit disappointed we aren't gonna see Klimchuk get a few games. Oh well, I'm sure he'd be next in line.

Looks like he'll play tonight on the fourth line. Hopefully as he practices more with the team he'll move up otherwise calling him up would have been rather pointless.

Speaking of "shakeups", I hope this isn't the extent of it. At this point, Lazar should be waived and we should take a look at what Hrivik could do

Would rather waive someone like Brouwer to see if there are any freebie takers; and then have him dominate the AHL and get his groove back (if there's groove to be had).

I wish he wasn’t on the 4th, but the only guy he could bump would be Jags. Excited to see what he can do. Until next Morgan, until next time.

That's the change I might make. I admit I haven't see Jagr much this season, but I don't think he should be playing in the second line.

Honestly, Jagr looks to be about done. He hasn’t been awful and I know he’s injured, but he’s struggled out there to keep up. He’s definitely been fighting it.

It's a nice idea, but I can't think of the last time an NHL team has waived a guy with an "A" on his jersey.

If Darryl Sutter came back, I bet he'd get a lot more out of Brouwer than we're seeing. I still think there's some offensive talent there but he just doesn't fit in the system we currently play

I've said it before, Jagr is at age where the decline can happen really quickly. Same thing happened with Selanne.

He created a lot of chances on the fourth line against San Jose making it look semi-decent. It's clear he's not quite at 100% yet and it might be a few weeks before he is

I think he could play a game, then take a game off type of thing for the majority of the season going forward. That way he can give it a little more gas when he’s out there. You still see flashes on occasion, but he just doesn’t have the legs right now.

Lazar is sitting again but Jagr, Stajan and Brouwer are all in the line-up????

It would have been nice to have Mangiapane go up with the Backlund line and have Lazar on the 4th line ahead of any of the vets. Might actually be able to have a little speed out there even, not much mind you but just a little.

I guess it is a step forward to have a young guy play but at the expense of another young guy kind of takes away some of the excitement.

They talk about a shake-up and yet the 3 clear guys who are out of place keep getting thrown out there with seemingly no thought towards performance at all. I mean LAzar is no Crosby but he has been better than the 3 vets without question.

They could bump Mangiapane up the lineup mid-game if he earns the coach's trust. I don't think Gulutzan has actually stuck with Jagr in the top-6 for a full game even once this season, and he's been started there 4-5 times now.

Maybe he should get a little more rope because of who he is but if he were a 25 year old name Mark Smith playing the way he is he would be down in the minors or in the PB a long time ago.

It may be age, it may be injuries and likely is a combo of both but he can not keep up skating wise anymore. I am not even sure his puck possession is worth keeping him around anymore. Maybe if we were clicking more we could keep him around as a 4th line PP specialist and really limit his 5 on 5 time but I don't think we can afford to do that with the way we are playing.

While I would love to see it that sounds like a Brouwer role with GG coaching.

Perhaps, but there are exceptions, of course. Gulutzan was the coach as Jankowski turned into one of the more relied-upon centres. Janko essentially saw fourth-line usage in his first few games, and now he plays PP, PK, 4-on-4 and 3-on-3. Also he plays 5-on-5 sometimes.

Tkachuk-Monahan-Jagr
Bennett-Backlund-Gaudreau
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Hathaway
Ferland-Stajan-Frolik(IR)/Lazar

One of Tkachuk, Monahan, Gaudreau, Backlund or Bennett needs to move to RW

This would get you two good scoring lines a maybe good third scoring line, and the 4th line would be non garbage once Frolik is back

Would love to see what Mangi and Bennett could do together, which unfortunately would mean Hath goes down to the 4th. Can’t see that happening. Can we just shoot Brouwer and Stajan into the sun to get rid of the log jam and some cap?

Mangiapane has played little to no RW as a pro

I’d like to see Mangiapane on the top line.

Put Ferly with Backs and Tkachuk

One can dream.
